Fuji X100 - Part 2

After reading through Fuji X100 part 1 & 2, I've a very strong urge to upgrade and to buy this beauty. I'm currently using LX5 for about 1 year now, do you think it's the right camera to upgrade?
Thanks :)

I have the LX5 for more than a year also, got my X100 yesterday. I loved it so much. Image quality is really day and night.

Thanks for sharing your experience and the X100 has a killer look.
Did you still keep LX5 as a spare camera or sold it off? :D

hi fellow x100 users,

need your experience..i went out for test shot...
subject is 1.5m away, i got the focus box confirmation...but as it snaps...the background in focus and subject oof....

aloskimo,
one of the known issue of x100 is the focus shift when using OVF for nearer subject, not sure if same as your findings.

no regrets, i sold my leica dlux 4 to get x100. U will be blown away by the fuji IQ.if one look at its strength rather the weakest, this is a capable cam.

Any body knows where can test the X100 ? Courts bestdenki ? Harvey ?

Wish ur x100 speedy recovery

I was informed to collect my X100 last friday morning. Was happily rushing down during lunchtime thinking that my wait was finally over. But guess what.....the exposure was totally inconsistent as i change the aperture in aperture priority mode. Before i send in, it was correctly exposed at f2 and gets brighter as i reduce the aperture. Now it is underexpose at f2 but it still gets overexpose as i stop down the aperture. Not convinced, i tried shutter priority mode. The result was also inconsistent exposure. In the end, i wasted 2 hrs and went back to office empty handed on an empty stomach :(

On multi exposure mode?

Nope, i aimed at the same spot, metering setting was average. The best part is the technician repeated several times thru the receptionist that it is "normal". I refused to accept the camera. So sad that my $1400 lasted less than 2 months. :(:(:(

Using average may not be accurate too. The best is spot. Single focusing point to a white object. Set it up same spot without moving and try all the settings. That's the best way to test exposure because it forces the camera to use the same perimeters. Anyway, send back to fix, shall see how it goes.

It may not be 100% accurate but should be 90% since the i took pic all the way from f2 to f16. Initially the technician said the camera will adjust internally, then he said this type of camera got to shoot manual. If i'm a newbie i'd would have taken his words for good. Very disappointing...

I got the same problem as you, slth123. The technician is really incompetent. Perhaps he has some criteria to fufil before he can perform a repair but really it is poor service. I posted my experience with Fuji Singapore in another thread.

I was told the lens was changed but as the problem was similar they may have replace with a refurbished lens that was previously faulty..

Latest update:

I collected my X100 yesterday and tested many times. My X100 is ok now:vhappy:

Certainly great news ... I wonder if it just occurs to only a specific batch.

Very high chance...mine is the first batch. I guess because of high expectations from the camera, the management is on the ballz. coming to a year in 2 months time. Superbly happy with the camera so much so OOC picture used in newspaper.
