Fuji X100 - Part 2

- switch to AF-S
- while holding on to the AF button at the back, use the rocker switch just above the AEL/AFL button to adjust the size.

Thank you Wilson, it helps
even though i usually use MF - Focus Button - Snap, looks like MF doesn't allow to change to smaller size

Hope Fuji WILL fix this MF issue

I will wait and wait and wait till they release the X100 in black..

Welcomed. Yeah it can change for MF but is accurate enough at this size.

As for MF, it is not an issue but really an inherent characteristics of a fly-by-wire system where minute adjustments is needed. Why? Electronic things work in integer hence 'digital' so there is no space for decimal accuracy like we need for things such as focusing. SO I rather not have manual digital zoom and focusing if I can help it. This is one thing I understand I won't be using if I were to get the x100. Good thing the AF works with my style.

Hi,

Looking at your comment, I felt that this camera is not for you. You should be considering a normal compact P&S. Please dun feel offend this is just my frank comment unless you looking at learning photography. If you buy this camera for using it as P&S I think you are wasting money.

Hi...example of the contrast AF not quite working from time to time. This is only one..but i've had alot of shot out of focus and many reviewiers (even pros) are facing the same issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t8G9P082bA

So appreciate any tips/tricks so that I can get the most out of this beautiful machine. And oh if you think I should just get a P&S too, then too bad I've already wasted my money and I that's why I need to learn to get the most out of it. thx.

this is one "feature" you need to live with it until the firmware updated this 'Bug'.

This is also what i meant by one need to adapt to how the camera works (for example, i can't compose a shot if the camera refuse to AF for me)
and not the other way round, which disappoint me,
so i sold my x100 after a week.

I am a Canon user, hopefully, they will design a Cool camera like X100.

Does anybody know if its possible to disable the indicator lamp that is to the right of the AFL/AEL button? Very hard to be stealth especially at night when the light is blinking away after every shot

Very easy.... just tape over it loh. ;)

Blu Tack.. :bsmilie:

hehe i was expecting answers like use tape already. but blu tack is actually quite a good suggestion, won't leave marks. i might try it, thanks!

also, what's actually more power efficient, leaving the camera on and letting it go into sleep mode after 2 minutes, or turning it off after shots? my battery barely lasted 100 shots today, i think it's because i keep turning it on/off

Blu tack may leave oily stain according to warning on packaging.
A good masking tape or even a small piece of Post-It note will not.
It's your camera and so it's your risk to take. ;)

Switch to silent mode.

Switch to silent mode.
That does not work at all. The light still flash green and orange when focussing and storing the image taken.
Of course the cheapest way is to place the thumb over the light to block it from view. I find that the thumb is position just nicely for the task when I hold the camera. ;)
