Fuji X100 - Part 2

But then again it's the body that's expensive. Haha. 2k+ for crop sensor really is alot. Without The body why would we want the lens correct?

yeah price is indeed on the high side for the body, even when it settles to around $2k after the initial release is still considered premium... but then i don't think it's out of reach for a lot of folks, specially here where people can afford multiple bodies, pro bodies or leica stuff... they said the same thing about the x100 when it first came out right? expensive for a fixed lens cam and have many quirks, but still quite popular because of the outstanding images... me thinks history will repeat itself and fuji has another hit on their hands (judging from the early reviews on the image quality which has everyone raving)...

If they can already get Leica, why get this?

Trying to get one before going to Nepal in June. Let's see if the price will drop xD

by that logic, does it mean leica owners don't own anything but leica stuff? if they can already afford leica, what's a 2k body and < 1k lenses for them to buy just to play around or satisfy their curiousity?

based on chatter in some of the fuji forums, seems like some leica owners are some of the early adopters of x-pro1 and even the x100 when it first came out

I see. Makes sense.

why not compare to nikon 35mm 1.4 which is about $2k or thereabouts?

i think the 35mm and 60mm from fuji are not too expensive, maybe competitively priced/similar to other fast lenses from other mirrorless systems... affordability is subjective though, some people think $700-850 for a fast lens is expensive while others don't even balk at paying for twice, thrice or a couple of times more for similar performance

I did, in my earlier post, when I said that it's cheap compared with the Nikon 35mm f/1.4. :) But my point is that I wouldn't buy it at that price point, though certainly many would. But the main killer to me is the rather expensive crop-sensor body.

I'm thinking maybe within the next 2-3 years we might see full-framed bodies near that price point. I'm saving up for that day. :D Also hoping that Epson revives their R-D series.

yeah yo earlier comparison with the nikon 35mm 1.4 seems more apt

ff cam should have around that price, like used d700 or 5dmk1 (dunno bout 5dmk2)... mirrorless who knows, maybe they milk it some more first and when sales decline then only intro ff mirrorless

but arent epson digital rangefinder expensive, i see used ones still selling for 1500-1700 an definitely more exp than xpro1 when they were first intro

Haha ya bo pian I love RFs but can't afford Leica and I don't like the hassle of film. So hoping the Epson will be affordable if it does come back.

Haha don't we all?

My bad then. But they do cost close to a thousand each, which is still expensive. The Nikon 35mm f/1.8 costs $350, and there isn't that much difference in terms of dof between 1.4 and 1.8.

Barely close to a thousand. I got the 35 f/1.4 for about $630.

Oh that's quite a lot lower than the initial quoted RRP! Is the body also quite a lot cheaper?

Oh wow. Good price. U was quoted 780+ everywhere I asked

wow thats 30% off srp, where did you get? must support that store hehe

maybe fuji will come out with with a digital rangefinder or digital medium format cam in the near future, they sure have the experience building rangefinder and medium format cameras (among other things)... even the x-pro1 body is based on an old design of theirs right (the TX-1 and TX-2, designed/built by fuji and sold by hasselblad outside of japan as the XPan and XPan II)

So, I read that Fujifilm colours are very nice. How does it compare to Olympus, any comments?
