Here's proof that ants can read, brought to you by the dp1m.

And since it is anything foveon, here's one done with photoshop's HDR merge.

Lovely panos. I wonder what lenses are those on SD camera using. I am using Zeiss ZS 25/2.8 and 50/1.4 with M42-SA adapter. If there are excellent Sigma lenses on SD cameras, please highlight and share. I can do with auto focus. :)

28mm f1.8 or 30mm f1.4 ?

28mm f1.8 or 30mm f1.4 ?

Thanks. I have a 50/1.4 on the way. This will be 85mm on my 1.7x. It is really the wide angle that I need. The 10-20/3.5 is the only fast option. Does anyone has any experience with this lens?

Also, for those who has upgraded from SD15 to SD1 or 1m, is it a significant jump in terms of IQ to the naked eyes? I read the below paragraph on the new 35/1.4 with interests - "previously undetectable high-frequency details". Is this referring to the new lens or the 46mp sensor?

" Every 35mm F1.4 DG HSM will be checked using Sigma’s own MTF measuring system, “A1,” as will all new lenses under the Global vision categories. This system uses 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors to pick up previously undetectable high-frequency details for quality control inspections. "

for super wide zoom , I would recommend 3 choices. 8-16mm, 10-20mm f3.5 or 10-20mm f4 -5.6

have not used SD15. But i believe it is a major improvement in SD1M. the amount of detail output is amazing. I am organising a hands on indoor model shoot with DP1M/DP2M/SD1M in mid Dec. Stay tuned.

Shot this morning with Kit during his outing to capture the first sunrise of 2013. (Cityscape...). It was more gray skies than sun though.
But the night lights looks good too. ISO100 30sec f8.
I have included the original file. Check out the details in the windows, scales on the merlion and under the bridge.
Shot at raw, saved as tiff and process in capture pro with keystone adjustment , some dodging of highlights and brightening the scene.
Just a few minutes of processing.

And since it was gray skies and plenty of gray tone, the next best thing is B&W conversion.

Here is the original file.

From the DP1M & DP2M in Foveon Classic Blue color mode...

The Foveon Classic Blue color mode can also be used in those images without much blue color tones in them like in this pic taken with the SD1M and the 70mm f/2.8 Macro...

original.jpg

Since it enhances not just the blue tones but also the yellows, the yellow eyes stand out when this coor mode is used in this pic.

And while we are at it, check out the 100% crops ...

This lens is sharp !

Damn, the SD1m is so tempting but I always fear it might not be a good choice for me when carrying just a single camera on a trip...
