Hi all! Tomorrow is going to be my first drift event!

Any seasoned shooter can help me with which setup i should use? I have a 50mm, 17-85 and a 70-300m. I dont know which one to bring..

LArdius, recommend you google up on motorsports photography and pick it up from there. What people post here may not be what you want or always be true. Read up and get some practice on Day 1, then finetune for Day 2.

Or spend some shots tomorrow morning before the race practicing on cars on the road :)

70-300mm for the cars, 50mm for the models, 17-85mm for full shot of the event lol

I have:

18-105mm
50mm
11-16mm wide
70-300mm

I think i'll be bringing all of them, better safe than sorry!

Does anyone have a list of things to pack to the event?

1. ticket!
2. snacks, water
3. sun cream, hat
4. camera, lens, lens cleaner, extra batteries, mem cards
5. ?
6. ?
7. ?

Used a 70 - 200 last year for FD
Couldn't get any close shots, so this year I'll be using a 100 - 400mm to try out.

i want to go too!!! but i have to work... aarrggghhh.....

anyone got the preview of the track layout for us to camp? :P

I'll be using my 18 - 200 this year as i got my kit lens only.
It'll be fine right?

anyone know what are the different of normal ticket with the corporate hospitality ticket? :)

Corporate is probably if you're a sponsor or paid to rent a booth or something I guess, my friend lent his car out and he got corporate tix in return for the event.
Then there's Grandstand, you get shelter and seats
and there's Walkabout - Stuck in the sun.

Back from day 1, so tiring.
I have almost 500 shots, but only a dozen which might be worthy of showing after editing lol.

How did everyone else do?

I plan on getting there tomorrow before opening at 11am, and plan on taking some shots of the first bend from the walkabout side before it gets too crowded ;)

Were you wearing the NZ or Aussie Camo boonie hat?

I might try out the entry point from walkabout view. My friend captured some crazy shots there, he has a flying bonnet shot.

I just got up from a nap, think I was zapped out from heat stroke. Lucky i'm not sunburned though. Might take a shot at reviewing my shots again, too many to go through lol :bsmilie:

Yeah that spot looks good, cars like to hit that wall on the opening slide :bsmilie:
