Formula Drift Singapore 2010 (24 - 25 Apr 2010)

saw the series on your zenfolio, nice and sharp images.
to experience shooters, what lens would you recommend for shooting using canon 1.6 crop? 55-250, 70-200 f4 IS, 70-200 f2.8 IS or 100-400 IS?

IMO ether the 55-250 or the 70-200 f/4 IS. If you're panning then you'll stop the lens down a lot so the f/2.8 is not necessary. You also shouldn't need to zoom in till 400mm. Having a lighter lens will be less tiring if you're shooting the whole day.

bwahahaha... even darren is getting in on the act... 'nuff of the technical questions... who's going??? :)

Thanks for your response. I checked on the website. But is the weekend ticket only purchasable at the door? when I logged onto SISTIC, I only saw 1-23rd Apr tickets.

nope, it's just that you buy before 23 it will be cheaper by 10dollars... for those who buy on the day itself at the entrance will have to pay more. ;)

sorry guys, i am trying to get myself prep.

does IS plays a part when doing panning? I am thinking whether 70-200 f4 non IS or IS makes any diff when panning?

When ur cam on tripod to do panning its adviceable to turn off the IS / VR / OS mode so it doesnt matter if ur lens have IS not.

I'm thinking of buying a Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens. It has a mode for panning (normal/active switch).
Is this a good lens? Appropriate for F1 Drift event? It's $795, i'm itching to get it today :bsmilie:

Some pix I shot @ last yr's Formula Drift Sgp '09. So here's just a hand full of shots from me of the Top 16 shoot out on Sun, the skies opened up that only added to the spills and thrills.

All pix untouched, hand held on D3 with 300mm prime, only slightly cropped.
