First Impressions : Nikon D800

Once you pixel peep on a 36.3mp file at 100% you can see things that you could not see on a 12mp file. I see it as a good thing. The camera can do more, you just need to control it well.

Also looking at the details and tones of the sample images, it seems that the 36.3mp sensor also captures more than 12mp sensors. Again I reserve judgement until I try a production unit.

It's really an opinion and without actual proof. Why would Nikon wanna slam a stone on their feet?

lens resolutions issue is real, but who knows nikkon may release super hi res lenses for this monster? haha...

in terms of sensor resolution, i must say nikkon did a fatanstic job, no horse run! but as for the quality of the pictures, lets wait and see... i guess everyone hope nikon will do well, bcos this means it is possible, and it means we will have better gear... other brands will soon follow.. if they don, then switch brand lor.. buy nikon lor.. haha.. i am always of the view that technology should always improve.. one day we will have super hi res and super good hi iso performance...

As the higher resolution FX D-SLR above 20 MP, many of the high end lenses on each brand (Canon/Nikon/Sony) which cannot fully utilized the resolution madness such D800.
So, be prepare to find the best of lens to be fitted to your next D800 soon :D

Agreed. You have to use prime lenses to make fully use of the high resolution, specially for the D800E. But then, you would not buy a porsche, fitted with a set of 135/13 tires form a Proton, and expect a perfect performance.

on the video front, it seems that it can do time lapse videos by itself and save as a video file

the high ISO noise seems good can't wait to have a hands on test
