Which G lens are you refering to? If its a DX lens then forget about using it on a film body as you'll get vignetting at most apertures.

If you're really interested in getting into film...I'd honestly recommend a second hand FM2n or the FM3a with 3, second hand manual primes that won't burn a very large hole in your pocket.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Shah

Hi Shah,

One of the lenses I use most of the time is my AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8G. It would be a shame if I got a body that didn't allow me to utilize this piece of glass. I had considered getting a FM2 or FM3, but dropped the idea because I shoot with my 70-200 around 50-60% of the time.

Luckily you drops the idea, the VR is a G lens ..

Ya lor, if got aperture ring I can still live without AF and VR, but...

If for 70-200G, no point of getting the F80 leh, can not give you good balance.

His current D70 also sama sama like F80 what :sticktong hehehe.

Actually, am I right to say (based on what I've read so far) that the F5's torque is so strong that it'll wear out lenses a lot faster?

Hmmm, an interesting offer. I'll let you know, thanks! :)

Third party lenses mostly, I think Ian did comment on this in a few posts. He had some glasses dying from the torque of the F5.

Do check with Ian.

Let's just keep to the topic and advise accordingly and not make sweeping remarks. Else it will go out of topic very fast.

And btw, I never got bored of film. The colours are soooo rich on slides.

I second that ... and that's why I still keep my MF SLRs ... :bsmilie: and recently brought over an F5 only AF SLR from my friend ....

Haha....and yet you call yourself ricohflex ?

Sorry, just can't help this one. ;)

Anyway, my advice to you rat, is to get the F100. TCW has got a tonne of them right now going for ard $1.5k with the vertical grip. I believe you can bargain some more.

Hey Ansel... thanks, will check TCW out.. but for $1.5k couldn't I get a second hand F5 already? :dunno:

This is my personal preference only. F5 is my choice.

I think Kira is selling one F5 at a super low price in B&S forum... go look for it~
F5s at TCW will cost about $1700 - $2xxx....

Thanks icarus, but I'm not buying one yet. Need to carefully consider my options and to save up for one else I'll get :hammer:

Anyone else have experience with these two cameras? In particular, I'm curious about the F5s reputation of "eating up lenses"..
