Erh got some smart aleck claims it could be 110km/h. Ai chop mai? :bsmilie: but I'm with you dude. No way below 120km/h.

Open Source Physics Simulations by lookang: What evidence(s) are there of the speed of the Ferrari was traveling at 140 30 km/hr?

Btw, a GTO exhaust is loud, louder than normal 599. With his accelerration, people will hear it coming hundreds of metres away & that guy who jaywalked couple of seconds before didn't seem to hear nor see him coming. He is an important witness. The Ferrari could be stationery at the previous traffic which is about a 100m away & blasted off only to beat this red light but my guess is he was already speeding far earlier from CHIJMES. Only LTA will know what was the traffic lights along that street @ that point of time.

Here's news that ma-chi wasn't drunk which means the insurance company will have to pay.....

Police: PRC Ferrari driver Ma Chi (马驰) did not consume alcohol before accident THE TEMASEK TIMES

Boy, do you want us to bring you to KTV? :) Even S-pass holders with proper day jobs moonlight in Geylang & KTVs.

The taxi windows were wound up and you can hear the full blast of the Ferrari. Also I do go north-south highway frequently, that's nothing less than 120km/h, in fact looks like 150km/h. Just looking at replays of the actual vids sends shivers down my spine. It's really really fast :(

:bsmilie:

so i can call my friend's girlfriend a KTV lounge hostess too even though i know she's a student and i know her pretty well too eh?

so a girl has no right to dress in hot pants, spaghetti straps and sit in a Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini?

why, many of our young singaporean females do that too! are they night club hostesses too? your girlfriends and wives who dress like that and sit in your very same car could be hostesses too!

i suggest you guys check your gals' backgrounds :bsmilie:

Is this the news article?
Quote:
[ The police found no evidence that PRC Ferrari driver Ma Chi (马驰) has consumed any alcohol in the night before the fatal accident in Bugis, said a police spokesperson to the media.

Ma was suspected of drink-driving and crashing his Ferrari into a Comfort Delgro taxi at a junction between Rochor Road and Victoria Street in the early hours of last Saturday morning, killing him on the spot.

The Singaporean cabby 52 year old Cheng Teck Hock and his Japanese passenger Shigemi Ito died later of their injuries in hospital.

The police claimed it ran blood tests on Ma Chi’s blood taken at the scene of the accident and confirm that it did not contain any substances which can cause him to become drunk.

The findings seem to contradict an earlier report by The New Paper claiming that Ma Chi reeked of alcohol when his body was extricated from his wrecked Ferrari. ] EndQuote

(Found no evidence) does not mean he was not drunk. It means they could not find evidence that he was drunk.

Running blood tests on Ma Chi’s blood taken at the scene of the accident may or may not be a scientifically sound basis to confirm conclusively.
If they chose not to take the blood sample from the body of the deceased but instead chose to take the blood sample from the scene of the accident, then it does not make any sense at all.
His blood was spilled all over the car and street. Whatever alcohol substances his spilled blood may have contained could have evaporated or be contaminated.

There could be witnesses to the New Paper report to substantiate the body was reeking of alcohol.

If the checking is thorough enough, they could easily run a check with all the major KTVs and nightclubs to check where Ma Chi entertained himself and whether he drank in the KTV/night club. If he paid with a credit card at the KTV/nightclub, it is a solid electronic record with date time stamp.
Other KTV guests could also be witnesses that he was there and whether he drank. A big spender like that would be known.

CCTV records of the KTV/nightclub car parks will also show the license plate number of the Ferrari at that date-time.

But judging from this news article, it looks like they want to let it go and everyone pretend to be stupid. Perhaps we don't want to know and let the matter be quickly forgotten. Next week something else will big news.

The problem with people nowadays is that they think they can act however they like, without any regard to social/traditional norms and still can get away with it.
Well.. think again..
I'd say if my GF dress like that with a man... or me..at 4 am in the morning.. and people are talking about her.. she/we are asking for it.
And we are saying kids nowadays are irresponsible? LoL... sheesh man..

Wow you are the first person to be that defensive on that person lolz....anyway we could be wrong lah ;)

This tread is long and I just saw the video in youtube.

video show stationary vehicles of video car at the junction and taxi was on his right side but not visible when stationary. it then showed light turning green ie for the video car to proceed in the direction of tekka or bencoolen. The taxi also proceeded and the taxi was on the right side of the video car. Suddenly at the middle of traffic junction, the ferrari car came crashing like a missle from the left side of the taxi. Ferrari was proceeding in the directin of Kallang

its quite obvious who is beating the red traffic light unless if the authority could establish that the traffic light was faulty at that time, ie traffic was green for the taxi and video car and also green for the ferrari car, which is very unlikely.

From the video, the impact is so enormous it seems like a missle just shot across the taxi. The speed limit in the city is 50kmph and I am a driver myself. What then is the speed of the ferrari judging from the video and its impact on the tax.? Is it pure accident or reckless driving that cost his own life and life of others?

There will be a blood sample taken for alcohol analysis too.

It is irresponsible for one to travel at such a high speed in a congested city, knowing that the speed limit is 50 and you deliberately sped past more than 100 to 200 kmph worst still beating the red light as shown from the youtube video. Innocent lifes has been lost in this case.:(

Yes.. But she can double just fine.. Stomp said she wore hot pants and spaghetti lace top at that time

That's discrimination. Women wear hot pants and spaghetti lace top do not mean anything....:nono:

If she is indeed merely a student, then comes the question of what is a student doing dressed so "lightly" in the ferrari belonging to a rich man probably 10 years her senior so early in the morning?

Can be friends mah...a friend whom his wife wasn't introduced??? ;p

So...Maybe...and I say MAYBE the scenario was like this:

Re-enactment
ma-chi was at the KTV Lounge where Lady WW was working...Lady WW served their table and got drunk. Ma-chi who was a good husband and father, felt that he should drive Lady WW home since he was the only person who drank tea.

Along the road, near where the accident happened, Lady WW cannot contain herself and threw up in the car or maybe at ma-chi...So driver got a shock, instead of braking, he accelerated and caused this mishap. And the rest, was history...

End of re-enactment...

The mystery woman in the car has been identified as Miss Wu Wei Wei. She is a PRC student who moonlights at a naughty KTV (rumored to be Tianamen).

Mr Ma Chi was a regular customer of Miss Wu Wei Wei. Eye witnesses have reported seeing his car at the club car park. Most clubs close at 3 am. His wife reported that he left their home at about 3 am. He therefore had probably gone to pick her up after work. They were probably headed to an undisclosed location for sex when the accident occured.

Hmmm...I've got a good feeling that I know where she worked / Party / or whatever.... ;)

I'm overseas now. Just tried 110 & it's too slow then went up to 120, still nothing like what he did but I have to turn off by then. Possibly 150-180.

:bsmilie:

Well, the evidences don't do her favour & I have absolutely no problems with hostesses as a good bunch of them are my friends while I even attended the wedding of one! I've lived in China, have an apartment there, drove there & some PRC friends are better than locals. You'll learn later in life that many things look beyond surface.

Anyway, the main culprit in this accident is the driver. The fact that he's a rich PRC made it worse.

Ok don't fight. Regardless of whether she is a real student, I can tell u guys that not all foreign students are real students. I know because I used to work in the foreign students industry.

We actually try differentiate the real students and those who are here to play. Sometimes when we call a new student to inform her to bring some documents the following day, we can't reach her in the day as no one picked up the phone. However when we try calling at night, we realized that it's a nightclub number! Then there are some men who claimed that their friends are interested to learn English in SG. I can tell u that 90% of these people actually want to get their gfs over for 6-12 months so that they can hold hands daily. The student pass way is better than short term visit as the max u can stay in SG is 60 days. It's troublesome to go JB once a month to chop passports and sometimes the immigration officer won't give you another 30 days of stay.

The next time u go to the ICA HQ, head up to level 4 where they handle short term visit and students passes. You can see all kinds of people there eg: 60 yr old local men and their young foreign gf waiting for passes.

Yes i agree don't judge a person by their dressing. That Ferrari female passenger may be a real student dressed sexily but u never know! I doubt she is a 100% real student! I have seen students who dress like virgins/innocent village girls/conservative/milk maids... whatever but after they obtain their student passes, their fashion sense changed! Or izzit they finally realized SG is humid so they need lesser clothes?

I guess there are some that don't. Imagine, come here to study, get to party every night and earn $6-7k monthly....haha. Dunno got this type of job for guys or not hor :p

only if you have telezoom lens.

c

from the video, it's very obvious the traffic light turned green from the taxi driver direction for a while.

either ma chi was sleeping or drunk.

From the video, if you notice the ferrari doesn't seem try to avoid the taxi at all, it just hit like a bullet speed, meaning it's super fast that he just can't even response to anything.

Who is the lady passenger - irrelevant except for gossip purposes.

Relevant - he ran the red light. Fast or slow, distracted or not, he caused the accident. If he's fleeting from bodily threat, still accountable.

Is the clown drunk? - if what some says here that he isnt is true. Then insurance will cover the damaged but it is capped. Means the victims will likely have to sue his estate if the compensation is not enough. $X for 2 dead, 2 injured, taxi, bike may not be enough.

If the clown is drunk, then no insurance coverage, everyone just sues his estate.

that is a link to another forum with a link to an article which doesn't prove anything.

all that's stated in it is that her friends said no, and it also contains a paragraph that mentions that the rumors of drunk driving and being a hostess were spread by the Shin Min daily and other CHINESE Tabloids

my friend who passed away was made to look like a playboy and a despot for girls and sex in an article about his death, when he definitely wasn't.

if you want to trust a tabloid that's known for making up stories, be my guest.

No of course I am not suspecting the traffic light allows both sides to move at the same time. What I am saying here is, if the timing to change from green to red is too fast, cars travelling on a clear straight road may not have enough time to respond when they see the change very near to the traffic light. The theory is that car should slow down as they approach the traffic light regardless of the traffic light signal situation to react and anticipate the change.

How many of us actually slow down without any reasons with a clear road ahead and ho many of us actually beat the traffic light by increasing speed so as not to be caught by the camera? If we know when it is going to change, then you will have the opportunity to react and slow down. People behind you also know your purpose and not that you feel the light is going to change anytime.

I must qualify that I am not justifying for the ferrari incident but just my personal experiences on the road.

The driver had at least ten seconds from the changing of the light to the time of impact to react to the red light and slow down. This is not a case of beating the lights. This is a clear cut case of running the red light.

Also, doesn't mean you do it all the times means it's alright. All it takes is one time and things will change.
