Feedback on new Personal Classified sections

new format or old format, i still get the stuff i wanted...except with the new style, i have to surf deeper into the pages...
oh ya, my whole dslr set is 2nd hand purchased here in CS except the blower :bsmilie:

I don't really like this new personal classified section because:

The one thing I go to club snap is to get reasonable price for used or new cam.
But with this new system we cannot see the "market price" and almost all the seller seems to sell their cam with ridiculous price because there are no benchmark and offer we can see.
For example I see one guy wanna sell his F40fd for $340 although the new price only for $299 with a lot of freebies. And I see another guy sell 2 years D200 BO for $1200 although the new D200 only cost $1550 with 18-55 VR. So I think club snap now will transform to become like online sim lim.

For the grouping part I like that new system, because it will be easier to find a spesific brand.

Just my 2 c.

This has nothing to do with ClubSnap but more to do with who is selling what. I have found many a thing here which is way lesser than market value. I have also seen threads which do what you are saying. At the end of it all, Caveat Emptor. :)

you can find out the 2nd hand market price by doing a simple search through in recent threads in b&s section instead of depending purely on that single WTS thread...wanna shop smart also must do homework smart what...

online sim lim ? this comment is a bit far-fetch...you bid lower if you like or else move on to some other threads instead.

My point is with this new system there will be a lot of fraud here in clubsnap
because we cannot reply and inform people that the price is ridiculous.

It's not really my business but don't you have a sense of something when you see
someone try to do the fraud.

How could you just do nothing when you know someone trying to sell second hand item
more expensive than the new item?

Because of that I said that just in a matter of time club snap will became a sim lim online fraud community.

just like recently there is on guy selling a rolleiflex 2.8F for $1.5 K but the model is a 2.8E he is actually selling.:dunno:

I can't say that I agree with you regarding fraud but the new system does make it harder to gauge what is a fair market price for a 2nd hand item.

Under the old system, ppl will likely uppzz their thread with reduced price or potential sellers will post on the thread how much they are willing to buy it for. This system makes it easier to gauge what was the transacted price for a particular item. High number of uppss on a particular thread acts as a clue to newbies that the item is overpriced.

With the new system you might have a few ppl posting that they want to sell a particular item a 24-70L say for 1900. As the communications with potential buyers happens offline we can't tell from the thread the transacted price unless seller posts a reduced price on the thread. Newbies looking through buy and sell might get the impression that the market price for this lens is 1900 eventhough in all the previous threads the actual transacted price was 1500 say, negotiated between buyer and seller offline.

fraud...the b&s section here is way better than hardwarezone or vr zone.
if you surf the forum long enough, justice does not always prevail...
to be honest if you reply in the expensive seller thread about his stuff more expensive than current market rate, chances are he's gonna tell you to bugger off...
furthermore you're gate crashing his WTS thread instead.

IMO, CS will never be a online sim lim cos the senior users here have a reputation to uphold and some of the senior nikon users are quite nice ppl.
if you're so unsure about the deal why not ask in the newbie section ?
my advise is best dont deal with single/double digit posters since they are most likely here to purchase and sell off at a higher price only.
and to do a search on when is the last posting from the seller.

well due to my inexperience in my 1st deal here in CS, the seller of my d40 never indicate on his WTS thread his d40 was a export set.
on the spot he told me is shop warranty cos i too desperate to buy the cam end up hand over the cash to him and still not doing enough hw to find out more about local and export sets.
in this case i only have myself to blame for handling over the cash.
thankfully tilll now, no problem.

so for future buyers in order not to end up paying high end 2nd hand market price, best is to pm users of the same equipment and hope that they answer you or do plently of homework first regarding the market rate of the item.

even under the old system, we do NOT encourage thread crashing and price policing.
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248961

if you have any disputes with the price, you take it offline with the seller. the basic principle of CS in buy/sell is caveat emptor. we do not police any potential 'fraud' because it is your word against his/her for any sale. and, there is no way in any degree of fairness that CS can arbitrate any case because we do not know the whole story. if it is a true fraud case, like those reported in the news from HWZ or SG Carmart, the police might be a better option than to publish your case here.

It is true that in the old system you also not encourage thread crashing but someone still can do the warning even at the risk he get banned or anything, and that's a price that someone are willing to take and what hell you can make another new user name.

But with this new system it's like club snap is encouraging and protecting fraud.

Firstly, it's easy for multiple Nicks to be traced upon registration.

Secondly, if there is a REAL fraud. Please bring it to the correct authority. ;)

Other then that, members are encouraged to do their homework before committing to anything... not only in CS but any transaction as well.

Ok, if someone made the nick in the cyber cafe or using some proxy and to make thing interested that someone is jumping around to a different place or even use laptop in public internet wi fi etc ...

would you still able to trace it???

not sure for CS... but my forum is able to trace certain spambots. But that's besides the point and you're getting defensive.

The thing is that as nightwolf have mentioned... what's makes a self-made vigilante post credible? As you've mentioned, what's preventing anyone from registering another nick to divert "attention" to their own B&S (which could also be another nick of the same person).

Hahahah I'm not getting defensive, I just ask a question to you if someone do that would you be able to trace him/her.

Well it doesn't matter if the seller is diverting the attention, but if there is someone in the forum who knows that the price is ridiculous then he/she can do something in the old system, but not in the new system.

And just like my previous statement I repeat, this is just my 2c.

Same applies to you.

There will be different people with different needs. Then there will be those who post most of the time in Kopitiam and don't use the Buy and Sell section at all. Since this is a thread regarding feedback on the new Personal Classified sections (a change from the previous B&S), and you have nothing constructive to say, then may i kindly suggest you take your rant somewhere else, perhaps in the Kopitiam section.

Hi, just to throw in my 2c here. i like the new classification by brand, makes window shopping a lot easier. However, the greatest value of the BnS (to me) has been lost - being able to judge market price by the actual transacted price instead of just the bid/offer price. It helps a lot when trying to buy or sell the same item, esp discontinued or old obscure items. Hope mods will bring back the replies. Thanx for the hard work.

So far, the mandate for categorization of the B&S section seems to be fixed, and seems to me that reverting to the previous platform is not an option for the forum owner. Would the moderators care to comment on this? Or a poll can actually be conducted to see which one works best?

If categorization seems to be the main benefit for this new platform(of course there are others benefits as stated by others, but seems that most people mentioned categorization is the key benefit), why this major overhaul when on top of the B&S section, you could simply add in a list of all of the categories(or brands) and for someone who is very specific on their needs, they could just click Nikon, and another window would appear with all the Nikon stuff being searched and sorted out nicely displayed for them. Likewise, same thing for other brands. That would have taken care of the categorization issue.

Its true that its annoying to see some who bump up and up till you are so sick of it, but not all sellers do that. Moderators could simply limit the reply by the threadtstarter to only one per day. That would have taken care of the bumps problem.

Sigh... I am sure things would not change overnight, but one fact remains... the new platform that was introduced suddenly is bringing less sales, less crowd, and more clicks, more windows opened.

you are right:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Not being able to up is not a problem when selling new popular stuff as it will sell in a few days.

I have some old unpopular film camera stuff to sell. These take a long time to sell. Once my post is not in the first few pages nobody will see it. I have no choice but to repost again after a few days.

Same feeling... the post is not bring up to the front when there is a new comment added by seller. Thus resulting lots of repost ... not sure will this cause resource over useage but hope there might be some improvement.:sweatsm:

Why not do a poll & see which system is preferred?
Best way I think.
