well, the F30's price fluctuated between 583 to 599 and the free gifts vary depending on which shop, salesman u go to. But mostly u get the 1GB H xD plus the leather case...tripod and sp are not constant - some got it some don't.

Basically the price hasn't changed since it was launched.

first i went to this woman who told me that i couldnt do away with the free VCD player.. had to pay $699 nett. i took a walk around the whole hall, and went back to the booth. approached a guy this time, looks like in his late 40s. i asked him if i could do away without the free VCD player, and to change the tripod for an extra battery. initially he quoted me $600 but i just bargained a bit more, got it for $580.
hope brothers out there manage to get it for a good price! F30 is a real beauty. I'm still charging it for the 8hr capacity. Can't wait to bring it out this coming monday!

I don't have the same conclusion. But then I don't usually shoot people.
The LX1 is only good at ISO100 because of the lens and even then it could be quite noisy if the dynamic range is too wide.
I quite like the Chrome mode as it give a resemblance of slide colours... a bit exaggerated and unreal but esthetically very attractive. I have not come across another camera (and I have used many, many digicams) that could output such colours straight from the camera in that way.

Tomcat, u have used alot of cams indeed Are u still holding on to the LC-1?

Do u have both the LX1 and F30? If u were to pick an overall fave, which of the 2 would u pick?

That's quite a bargain. $580 with the normal freebies plus extra batt is a good buy, definitely. Anyway don't know whether you'll have the chance to use the extra batt, as the battery in the cam just keeps on going. Since first charge I've brought the cam on holiday, snapped some random shots locally.. and the indicator is still full, 1 mth after buying.

Type "M" is normal speed type "H" is high speed.

That is a gd deal man! I am going to get my F30 today.. Was planning to go MSColor to get it for $599.. But u said comex can get the exact same package for $580? U guys think MSColor can bargain abit to get the same price? Or should I go straight down to Comex instead.. $19 savings quite alot too..

i have heard about the wonderful battery life too! that made me think if the extra batt that i bargained for was worthed it or not.. haha
but then again, i have seen batteries which has degraded till it has pathetic lifespan left.
go find the man in the booth that is in his 40s, maybe he's the boss there. might give a good deal!

Well, it's a $30+ value so shldn't be so bad

What's the company or shop's name printed on the receipt? Any address as well? Can't make it to the comex leh.. maybe can try out their shop after comex?

for those of you who tried the camera at comex, did you find the images not as sharp? i was thinking is it the screen protector or due to the bright fluorescent lighting at the booth. made me think twice abt buying F30, esp when canon ixus 60 shows sharp images on its LCD.

They are sharp alright. Shouldn't depend too much on what you see on the LCD.
