Saw this bee (or is it?) along the street in Little India.

I only cropped away about 20% off.

That insect must have stayed in that position for quite a while... I find that the auto-focus of the F30 a tad too slow.... usually by the time I get a focus, the insect would have flown away...

And the focussing sound will scare off the insect too.

Actually the insect was fast. It seems to be posing for me. After I shoot the first photo, it flys off to another pose and once it was done, it flys away.

I would say it is by luck. ;p

I think that is a "carpenter bee". It's huge, black and can be quite aggressive by buzzing around people in their space. However, I understand it very rarely sting anyone - only act tough. The carpenter bee makes it's nest in wood by burrowing a big hole and laying it's eggs in there. I have one that lives in my garden.

Haha.. that was on my mind too.... the sound even scares my hamsters....
how do u all do the cropping? on PC? and how to do the focus and blurring on the background?

For everyone's info, trying to get an equote for F30 from CP but the reply is that model has discontinued. does that mean there won't be any stock of F30 in CP liao???
