The aggressive noise reduction took away the details.

It isn't the NR, this is the results of fuji's super ccd.. since the days of the 4900z, their pics have a watercolor effect due to it interpolation of it's diagonal sensor layout.. superccd tends to have better diagonal resolution hence the edges in the pictures has more resolution.

Oh i see. Thanks for enlighting.

Can't get my F100fd to read my Transcend 4 GB 133X SDHC card...... "card error"

Anyone having same problem?

did u do a fresh format of the card?

would like to ask how many shots can be taken (without flash) on a fully-charged battery?

Bro, seem like you are not the only one with transcend SDHC card, though most reported have problem with 8Gbytes one.

Tempted with f100fd also ;p, will it be any issue without the A/S priority mode?

I guess u have gotta treat the F100 as a PnS with a limited subset of manual adjustability.

Haiz went to try out e camera yesterday. I simply crank up the ISO to 800 & above; ANYHOW ANYHOW able to recreate the pink band issue already. No need to block all surrounding light from the lens barrel; dun need to shoot black surfaces:

Pink band's there. EASILY.

& with the country of originality issue, i.e. China or japan
& with the Transcend card write issue...

Suddenly it does NOT seem so desirable after all...

that's a pity, was looking forward to wide angle compact with great high iso capability. perhaps they are squeezing in too many pixels into their sensor?

This picture seems very noisy

Just got my F100FD this afternoon. i realized there is pink band on the LCD screen when i was taking pictures in the open air but the pink band did appear on the actual photo itself. furthermore the same situation also occur in my Nikon 5100. hence, it does not bother me as long as the final output is ok. As for place of manufacture, i think we should not be too concern, right? what is not made in China these days?

The face dection is excellent....i think it is still a good pns camera.

Anyone can post a photo sample of the "pinkband" please?

Most 25mm lenses experiencing this pink bank problem especially shooting against strong light. I think some sort of lenses flare. My humble opinion.

You can find some shot of the pink banding issue in dpreview here. Notice the bright pink band in the photo.
The picture when opened in photoshop exhibit an consistent gradual banding which depicts a sensor problem.

Do note that the pinkish edge on the LCD when taking a photo in the dark is not the same as in the photo..
this signal in the lcd brightness is pumped up under low light conditions for you to preview and doesn't reflect what is captured.. the noisy image banding on the screen's left and right is due to both light leaks and sensor readouts artifacts in the preview processing.. present since old days of the first fuji digi-cams..
other brands' cams don't pump the signal so it's wysiwyg.

The best way to identify banding issues is to simply open any black/dark photos under photoshop and pump up the levels in the individual channels to check for anomalies.

for me cant post any sample cos the band only appears on the lcd screen and not on the actual picture.

Did you actually view the photo on a monitor screen or just the cam lcd?

The 'pink' or magenta band you refered is not the pink band that everybody is talking about.
