I have realised that,

F30 will fix to F2.8...when I switch to Auto and M mode
Your statement is valid under low light condition and when zoom is at its minimum (widest angle).

Hi all..

I'm a new user of the F30. So far tried AUTO, Scene(Party), Scene(Natural) and Scene(Natural+Flash).

Almost all outdoor AUTO shots turned out well.

But with the setting at Scene(Party), quite a few shots taken at a family dinner turned out a little soft and a little underexposed. (Flashed ISO 800, f/2.8 defaulted by camera)

When taking flash shots with AUTO mode, will the intelligent flash throttle down, up the ISO and also at the same time avoid using aperture that's too big(f/2.8)? ;p

Intelligent flash also work in AUTO mode?

Taken with F11. First time posting photo here, comments welcomed. :)

We are all F30 new users, aren't we?

1) Party mode, Flash on

From my observation, if flash is on, then ISO must be either 800 or 1600,
shutter speed defaults to 1/60 sec.

If your object is on focus, then soft image is likely due to handshake.
Btw, most of my night shots are quite soft and PS sharpening is still necessary.

Why not show us your problem shot?

2) AUTO mode vs Party mode
For your case, I do not think the underexposure can be improved by using AUTO mode.
Basically the camera auto function in setting the exposure works the same way in all modes.

In actual fact, the flash may not be that intelligent, but the camera does possess some common sense.
I quote:
The F30 features a new ‘intelligent flash’ system which uses the camera’s sensitivity to combine natural foreground illumination with balanced exposure in the background.
You may like to try out M mode or A/S mode which allows the exposure to be manually increased up to 2 stops in 1/3 stop increment. Also, do not forget that choice of metering selection (matrix, spot, average) may yield different exposure setting as well.
Am I confusing you? :bsmilie:

Not very sure , was told its westin stamford ... unless my friend is wrong

:dunno: did a search on the net and both Swissôtel The Stamford and Westin Stamford Hotel are still valid names and active webpages that points to the same building.. :dunno:
