DM bbb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I get I will get the RZ body that can take digital backs. But what I really wabnt is a 4" x 5" large format. If cannot get view cam, get the Tachihara fieldcam with the 300 - 500 year -old cherry wood also can. But need to get a high res scanner also, and IT products and I don't go well together! :bsmilie:

Actually thinking about it ... if I'm going to spend close to 1.5K for a 90mm TSE (for product/food shoots), I might as well get a cheap 2nd hand view cam complete set with a decent Schneider lens!!! Heck, you can even get a Sinar these days for less than 2K!

I saw a lady doing that in front of The Cathay.....

IIRC, it was only 1 year back...

Normally only the archi togs charging 10k and up a day will use 8x10s for their projects. Mostly commercial togs will just use medium formats because most clients don't want to spend that much.

In a studio, or for a food/still life/interior shot, the sheer amount of CONTROL a view cam gives ... after you use one, and go back to your SLR, you will feel like someone cut off one arm and both legs.

Oh, donlt be fooled. View and field cams like that are VERY much still in use today for a lot of stuff. Only you don't see it. The reason is simple: those cams can do what no other cameras can, and provide the highest IQ ever.

If you check the Sinar and Toyo websites, you'll see that they have also moved into the digital age for large format cams, and folks like Sinar have been producing dedicated medium format cameras for some time liao, besides producing digital backs.

Nope, not unless you see a high-end architecture tog at work, or go into a studio where they shoot industrial products or stuff like cars or in very difficult situations where the togs need the control that no other cameras can give.

The irony is that the basis of their designs are so ancient, yet they are capable of allowing a tog to accomplish things that no other camera can. But I know of design students who literally break down and cry when they have to do a practical with a view-cam! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

good for you man....now the next thing you have to learn is how to minimise the colours palette and make the gif smaller to save on sizing and download time if not, those with slower broadband or worst will be sitting there waiting for the gif to download to their system heh....
