Love the design, especially the top plate. Looks ultra analog too

I don't know much about shops that does the cleaning, but if its of any help to you, my sensor came dirty with alot of dust spots/dirt (where an airblower simply didn't help) when I first bought it from the States. I bought a pack of those APSC VisibleDust Swabs and did the cleaning myself without much trouble. Followed this guide on the procedure.

Epson R-D1: Sensor cleaning

A caveat if you do decide to clean the sensor yourself though, make sure that the battery is full and that the cable release you're using to hold the shutter is in place. The shutter closing in the middle of cleaning could damage the camera. Though I must say that it wasn't all that hard if you're careful enough. Added a link to the official Epson manual, see last page for cleaning instructions.

No adjustments other than WB.
Colours are true to what I saw.

Finally got my hands on this beauty !

Ready to shoot, but first some questions.

1) Film setting - Do you use it or just set to standard ? I also set to yellow filter when shooting B&W as i love the output.

2)Average battery life ? - Haven't really tested but from some quick snaps, the battery seems to drain quite fast. (must stop chimping!)

3)Feel like changing the rubber leatherette and the edge is coming off. Anyone has experience with this? I already ordered a set of grip-tac replacements from Cameraleather Epson R-D1 , waiting for it to arrive.

Really excited to go shooting with this camera as it is such a joy to use, love the manual shutter rewind and the seiko dials ! The output also really surprised me, great colour and great high iso even from such an "old" camera. No complains about the iso at all, even after being pampered with the x-pro 1.

Newghost, you've changed the leatherette?? Oo.. 40mm.. the frameline of 35 a closer match to the 40mm FOV on the RD1s?

1) I set to standard as I shoot mostly colour. For Black and White, I like red filter when I want it a little "darker and industrial".

2) Get yourself a few batts. Got 3 myself to rotate around. So at any 1 time, 1 in cam, 1 in bag, 1 still charging.

3) Not sure if I like it without the rubber leatherette. Not that I don't like it, but if you change it, future half cases may not fit unless you plan to use it nude.

Previous owner did! To be honest, i'd much prefer the feel of the original leatherette... that is no issue now though since I'm using the Epson half case!

The Summicron-C for show only lah ;)

Changed the rubber grip to grip-tac.

Actually it is more of a rubber covering rather than faux leather so the grip is still good, or even better ! Left the back untouched so still has the nice "hump"
Anyway i kept the original rubber so i can stick it back on if i want to in the future.

No problem with the half case im using, and even when im using it nude, can't tell any difference.

Can post some pictures of the grip-tac. Applied it yourself or you got someone else to do it for you?

Welcome! Any thoughts on why you find it lovely?

Shock when seeing how this old digi RF can do ... especially Jpeg output ... the color is film like !
I like the dial as well ...
