will skip this. :(

same here. in terms of IQ, i don't think there are significant improvements from a 40D. sure, the new features are nice to have, but it is ultimately an aps-c. if anything, this has convinced me that 5dm2 is the way to go.

At the end of the day, there's still a gap between APS-C and FF, so cannot compare like that.

So we start another thread for the 3D, a potential APS-H to go with the 5D2 and 7D?

That is one camera I look forward to, not the 7D.

strange indeed. I thought the xD series will be all FF while the xxD remain APS-C. If yes, this so called 7D should be 60D?

Cause it is a different class from 50D altogether. I believe Canon will still produce 50D till it have minor upgrade just to compete better with Nikon D90.

I think this will sort of replace the 50D. To me, 7D is like a hyped-up xxD series and Canon just gives it a single digit to make it look and sound more pro.

Magnesium alloy body with environmental protection
The magnesium alloy body offers weather sealing equivalent to the acclaimed EOS-1N, EOS Integrated Cleaning System and 150,000 release shutter durability. The EOS 7D has been designed from the ground up to be used by the most demanding photographers.

7D has weather sealing !!!!! just nice compliments my lens. hahaha!
going to grab them as soon as they are out!

IMHO, If the 7D price around $2.5K, the 50D will be the last XXD model, no room to upgade any more. An upgrade XXD with features close to 7D will kill 7D sales. An upgrade XXD with too less extra features will kill itself.

That's up to Canon to decide already.

Maybe canon will remake an announcement saying it should have been the 60D :bsmilie:

oh, but seeing the features, it should have been named the 60D seriously

I doubt so as features are a huge improvement over the current 50D. Looking back from 10D to 50D, changes have improved but not too significant. The 7D is a very big jump though, thus renamed as 7D.

If you look at the chart it seems to occupy the same level as the 5D2 but its a crop sensor. However, if you compare the specs you will notice its geared toward different target markets. The 5D2 seems to be geared towards the landscape and portrait folks with its FF, higher resolution and lower fps. The 7D seems to be looking for people who needs a good AF to track motion (hence 19 cross sensor AF!) and do not mind a crop factor like sports photogs, fashion show shooters, journalists or birders. While the 50D are for those who transition from xxxD to the next level. SO I think there seems to be room for a 50D replacement after all and judging from the 7D price, the 60D will be cheap!:)

but why care what it is being called? They could call it Ex-Rebel for all I care :D

A good cam is a good cam... tho some would say, any cam that takes pics is a good cam.

And I can't wait for the 19AF points to be incorporated into 5D3 :D
