IMHO..... xxxxD would likely be drop. Price cut for both xxD & xxxD should be the way. You earn less per Camera but sell more and keep Market Shares..... keeping CANON world num1 :bsmilie:
Unless the 7D is APS-H type sensor, the XXD might still can survived down the road in future, if not, the XXD will become history. It's not logical for Canon to keep different series of camera with so close related in spec and function. My guess is, if 7D is APS-C size sensor, the XXD series will be eliminated, leaving XXXXD series for entry level DSLR user, XXXD series for budget consumer, XD series for semi pro and pro user.

Make worst by the fact that the price is yet unconfirmed..... $1699 USD doesn't mean $1699 x exchange rate..... could be higher or lower.... much like prices in China, HK & S'pore is difference. If the price is too close to that of the 5D MkII.... likely most would rather go FF, unless you need the speed of the new camera.
But never mind lah.... my buget for Camera or Lens would be at years end (Xmas present for myself).... all will be known by then... hopefully :bsmilie:
Guys, invest in lenses....camera bodies have reached a state where the improvements are getting very small as compare to the improvement made in the days of D30 to 10D. Body improvement have very marginal improvement to the image quality now. Therefore, lenses might bring more satisfaction.

Agree. This seems to be another marketing strategy, if they price the 7D close to 5DII, it might attract some people to go for the FF, result in more sales for 5DII...

Agree on the investment of lens instead body, but IMO, for certain circumstances, good body (with good ISO) does helps
Given a choice of good Lens vs Good bodies....without a doubt I go for the lens. Eg. 200F2L vs 1Ds3.
Maybe a backup set for pro user. Too many speculation, let's wait few more days to see what would Canon announce, or nothing at all.
That's why to me, anything is just a rumour unless officially announced.
