Eos 7D ???

so in e end, is 7D goin to b full frame or crop? hmm
Most likely to be cropped, since the pentaprism viewfinder is small but can cover 100% of the sensor size, can accept EF-S lenses and the mirror will be small also, most probably a 1.6x sensor. would prefer a 1.3x sensor but chances are slim.

Very clean image up to ISO6400 or just usable only?

If it ain't FF, it will not be as clean usually. Probably usable only.

Then this camera will be an outdoor camera targeted for the budget semi-pro photographer. I guess the market price will be somewhere around 3K SGD.

Budget semi-pro can be the curretn xxD series. But still, 7D is a rumour.

Maybe a backup set for pro user. Too many speculation, let's wait few more days to see what would Canon announce, or nothing at all.:D

Looks good. Might upgrade considering that the next iteration for 5D MK2 is 1.5 years away (3 year cycle), and since I've got APS-C lenses anyway.

2 info I hope will get answered soon:

- Built in Flash Master (as previously rumored)
- Batt Grip support. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will take in BG-E2N.

Same here. Also, we can look forward to some of these nice features such as the 100% VF coverage, horizon leveling etc, to find their way to the 5Dm3 in 1.5 years' time.

Would be ideal if the 7D hit the stores before Sept 27 SGP, but that's probably a little too much to ask I guess

My intepretation of the logos:

Top:
1. 18MP
2. Dual DIGIC4
3. 8 fps
4. 19 cross-type AF points
5. ISO 6400
6. ??

Bottom:
1. 100% viewfinder coverage
2. ??
3. virtual horizon (same as D300s)
4. 3.0" LCD
5. Full HD video recording
6. "real-time display"??

My guesses : :)

Top 6: 68 Metering Zones
Bottom 2: Auto brightness LCD
Bottom 6: Liveview

Looking at the pictures, it doesn't look like 7D has the built in flash master. If present, it's likely to be put on the features ad, instead of less important stuff like 100%VF.
Also, no leaked news of new flashes. If built in flash master, it means that all the current flashes can't make use of it. Unless it uses a built in IR (built in ST-E2)?

I would say, having a built-in wireless master mode is technologically possible. Just imagine having an IR window at the flash chamber, or maybe we need to raise the flash and the IR window is just next to the flash bulb. Control can be done from the flash control page.

All existing Canon Speedlite uses IR as communication method.

That's what I thought based on a CR rumor posting last time ("Goodbye ST-E2").

Anyway, just saw an update in CR:
Pricing Update [CR2]
These are unconfirmed prices I’ve received from a few sources.

In USA: $1699 Body
In Canada: $1999 Body

I have no Europe, Asia or Pacific pricing at the moment.

thanks those who tipped on this

EOS 7D Specs

-18mp
- dual digic 4
- 8 fps
- 19 af points
- ISO 100-6400 (L & H1 & H2)
- 63 metering zones
- 100% viewfinder
- Horizon Help Viewfinder
- 3″ VGA LCD
- FullHD Video

I still stick to the wireless flash master being built in. A few people are writing me saying it’s not in the camera. My source on the issue is top notch.
I guess that translates to S$2599 SRP. Perhaps ~S$2400 at street price.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will reach Singapore's shelves latest by Oct. :)

Lets said the price of $2456 is really $2500-$2699 when selling in S'pore. Add shop discount of $200 when getting body from the usual camera shop. The price is really close to xxD series camera ($500 +/-)..... Anyone think that Canon is going to lower the price of their xxD cameras ??

:Later,

I have been waiting for a body upgrade to my aging 40D... $2500 for the 7D, $3000 for the 5D2. Both are very different beast but I hope 7D's 18MP will be a breakthrough.

:Later,

If it's sensor is APS-H size, it will be very nice for the price. 18mp APS-C size sensor will have no real advantage over 15mp on the 50D because the limitation would be the resolving power of the lens itself. Hoping if it is an APS-H sensor, I'll be the first in the queue.

Even if it is APS-C, the 8fps and the 19 cross-type AF points are a huge differentiator for me. I'd rather get this one than an overused and often overpriced 1Dm2/Ns out there.

I believe the 7D does not have a weather-sealed body. Things that I would like to have on my 7D:
1. Able to use back BG-E2/E2N from my 40D
2. 19 pts AF points evenly distributed across the screen. I dislike 5D/1D/1Ds series where their AF points are all in the middle.
