If it is APS-C 1.6 crop shouldn't it be called 60D instead of 7D.

Hopping for a 35mm f1.8

What a relief. Finally, a camera that looks GOOD to me. I will be the first in line. :D

Was thinking of getting a used 1Dm2 for the occasional sports shoots. But if this 7D puts out at least 8fps, and a has usable AF, I'll join the queue too!!

A 1.6x sports camera would pair up nicely with my 5D. Being a non-1D, it shouldn't be that bulky as well. It will be permanently mated with my 70-200mm f/2.8 :bsmilie:

CR3 from Canon Rumours... Hmm.. This sounds more like a threading more in 1D3 teritorry then the 5D2.

Heh, that's coz there's absolutely no room to tread in the 5D2 space to begin with. Besides being FF, the 5D family is almost identical to the XXD family. I can't imagine Canon slipping in another FF DSLR in between.

If a 60D does come out, how much of a difference versus the 7D? minus the second digic processor?

your guess is as good as any one else :dunno:

I am not sure if the 60D is worth releasing. The 50D is a poor seller compared to the 30D/40D. It is hardly better than the D90 but costs more and weighs more.

The 7D moniker merely tells us that this upcoming release will be a closer competitor to the D300s than the xxD series.

But, they'll still need to compete with the D90. Can't just leave a big segment like that alone... especially to a rival company.

Agreed. But to compete effectively, they should bring down the price and weight of the 60D. The 500D competes well at the D5000 level in terms of features, price and weight.

But ALL Canon sensors need some serious upgrading. Poor dynamic range at low ISO and chroma noise are Canon's Archille's heel at the moment.

I think the 500D's better than the d5K, but the 50D is not as impressive as the d90

d90 is plastickish...i feel that build-wise..d300 is a better match to the 50D..if i really have to switch to a nikon..i'd feel very comfortable with a d300 or a d700..

better is always subjective...

nikon needs to improve the raw processing software bundled with its packages..DPP that comes with canon is hard to beat..

Nikon in turn has CLS...which i wished canon had..CLS is so convenient

can't just say that a camera is better than another..

Kao, now confused liao. Was thinking of getting a 300/4L (and a 1.4xTC) to get more reach for zoo/birdpark sort of wildlife pictures - but then now I feel like getting a 7D as a back-up camera and a 1.4xTC to put on 70-200. Any one got ideas?

Hope that the 7D share same battery grip and battery as the 5DMkII.

Build up your lens collection....no point going for new bodies!

I was in the same dilema as you previously, cause im am going for a wildlife trip in december, so after much contemplating i decided to get a UWA and a 1.4TC to complement my 70-200 instead of a 300mm since others who shared their experience said 280mm would be enough

Woah Sony unleashed their "budget" FF liao...the A850...at $2.9k SGD (est.) .....now just waiting for Canon response!

canon seems to be purely going for comsumer $ and no longer focus on their quality. whats the point of releasing so many models when they can't even get their existing 50D and 5Dm2 right?

Did you join just to say this?

A 24MP FF DSLR at cut-throat prices? Ouch (on Canon's behalf)!!! :bsmilie:

Since AF performance, weather-proofing, 100% VF coverage etc aren't 5Dm2's hallmarks anyway, the A850 falls in the good enough FF DSLR category that is fully capable of eating big chunks into the 5Dm2 sales.

What would Canon's response be? Perhaps a 7D FF DSLR with a "smile recognition" feature?
