EOS 7D user,information sharing thread.

ok. becos i think i read somewhere that any s/nos below 2000, may hv the QC problem.

So from your s/nos, with 1.1.0 ...not sure if the QC problem is still there...

Did u try spot AF to take the picture with a canon lens? it may improve. See the tutorial for this Canon 7D in the Canon website.

just curious what kind of problem huh?:sweat:
mine is 19xx :sweat::sweat: haven't facing any problem so far :confused:

Wow... all kind of different serial number coming out now. LOL....

Mine is 19xx (last four digits) but was only bought last week..... So does that mean that mine was the 19xxth set that was manufactured ??!!! Any chance of recalling where you last read that any s/nos below 2000 may hv the QC problem? Tks....

Sigh.... should have asked the store to bring out all their boxes and pick the latest serial number then.... LOL ;p Macam like buying 4D.... Wauhahahah ! :bsmilie:

you got to judge for yourselves... if the pic is soft.compared to the previous DSLR... then high chance is qc problem.or maybe u hv not get use to the camera AF yet. try using spot AF.

Try removing the AF beam assistance, it'll allow the camera to focus faster and thus reduce chances of out of focus.

I read on DPR forum that serial # below 102000 (last 6 digit) might have problem with AF. But this rumor was never confirmed. I bought my 7D on the first day of launch in Singapore (1st Oct) and my serial # is already 1082XX with FW 1.0.7. I don't think new set with FW 1.1.0 will have serial # lower than mine :confused:

So far no issue with AF (tested spot, single, expansion, zone and 19pt). But need to send my Sigma 50mm F1.4 to Sigma for calibration as the AF micro-adjustment was insufficient to compensate for this lens. My 24-105 does not need any micro-adjustment :D

hi all,
just got mine yesterday my last six digits are 3161xx. according to mike from parisilk he got the stock last weekend.

so far no problems with af. canon 50mm f1.4.

If your camera can pass the Canon 50 f/1.4 AF hurdle, it is good to go. :bsmilie:

E1 Hand strap works with EOS 7D if you have the battery grip BG-E7. Without the battery grip, you can't attach the strap.

After some searching, I found this interesting product. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of the items...
I will certainly let all know how it performs when I get it.

Got mine about 2 week ago, so far no problem. It came with latest firmware.
I am using Sigma 30mm 1.4 and Canon 400mm. Not very happy with 30mm result, maybe need to bring for calibration. But so far happy with the camera.

Ya always Sigma lenses, gd that yo can micro adjust it on the 7D... b4 i send my 30mm for calibration, I had to micro adjust it to "+15" to get a decent sharp image.

any direction where to look in manual to do this adjustment?

7D: the new autofocus king... assuming of course you have a good copy. :bsmilie:

Results of AF torture test from this website:

Camera Model -> Center Point (% in focus) -> All Focus Points (% in focus)
Canon 40D -> 42 -> No Data
Nikon D300 -> 55 -> 80
Canon 7D -> 73 -> 88
Canon 1D3 -> 69 -> 93
Nikon D3 -> 52 -> No Data
Canon 1Ds3 -> 72 -> 79

Not bad... not bad at all.

PS: I am rather surprised by the awful AF performance of the D300/D3. After all the internet hype (without any direct comparison test results), Nikon is still trailing Canon in the AF servo arena.

Anyone use the wireless remote RC-1 here with canon 7D? Care to give feedback? Many thanks in advance.

How much is the BG E7? Can't seem to find a price for it.
