No such prob with my 5D2, using extreme3 cards...seems to be working fine even for video :)

I am having problems with MkII play button. Sometimes it doesn't response. I need to press a few times and press very hard before I can see the image. Seems like an intermitten problem. Anyone experience that too? It kinda sucks cause I like to chimp during my wedding shoot to see if the exposure is correct anot. :(

I'm not sure, my set seems ok but maybe a quick workaround is to cfn the 'SET' button to do the review function. I tend to chimp alot also and I've been doing this for years as I find the button easier to reach with my thumb and my left hand is free to do other stuff. Much quicker for me.

I don't feel slow leh.....you using what CF card?

yup, i encounter that also, maybe because it needs time to render the files before you can view? No really a big issue for me though... What worries me most is those holes for the mic cos as i was shooting yesterday it rains suddenly... no sure if rain will find their way inside my cam anot....

hi redwingz
no need to worry of the mic holes. it resistance of water and dust with sealing material.

you know... i was filming the sky just now and was wondering...

if i constantly expose the sensor to the sun on filming mode (in some instances live view), will it like... fry the sensor? Since strong sunlight is concentrated onto the sensor...

Wow,remember fews months backs someone cooked their lens or once of the camera body part in once of the thread of CS in canon sction.
imagine the lens act a magnify. you know the consequence on the sensor will ...............

some thought after few hours of shooting.

The things that I dislike:
1. Handling is bad without the battery grip. Don't really have good balance with my 24-70L and 70-200L F2.8 IS.
2. View finder is not as sharp & bright as I expected.
3. The battery charging is long
4. The shutter delay is slow with Liveview.

The things that I like:
1. The 21MP resolution. That's really rock!!!
2. The LCD is superb.
3. The AF in Liveview is working well.
4. Excellent 1080P HD Video.
5. The HighISO performance is impressive. From 100-1600, it's not much diff with 5D. However, considering 21MP with 5D noise performance, it's superb.
6. ISO is usable till 6400. Banding observed from ISO12800 but good for web showcase.

Does any of you know the prices of 5D mkII in japan? and if they are already out of stock and where to get them?

Price of 5D2 in Japan is 298,0000 Yen which works out to about S$4,650 after tax rebate. Still pricier than here in SG. Stock wise, you have to check with the respective store in the area that you will be going to.

That is really good to know.
I went shooting with last week.. literally.. wildboar hunting..everyone else with their shotgun and I with my 5DM2 and 70-200 and it started drizzling. I had to whip out my poncho and was kinda worried about the camera getting wet. Luckily in the jungle, the trees somewhat gave some sort of rain protection. I don't know about you but this is the 1st FF camera I had and for me, it stood the test of the wild :bsmilie::thumbsup:

I also went offroad, up the forest reserve to capture a water fall and the mountain view, I did a lot of "drive by shooting" and tried the video cam and it was all very very good. However the lighting condition with made the shoot very tricky. Still learning you see. Maybe after I post some pictures up in Travel, some "sifu" here can give some pointers.

One last thing, the battery grip and LOTS and LOTS of memory cards are absolutely needed. I nearly ran out of power and memory after a days shoot.
I hope they bring in the battery grip soon.
Overall, this is an awesome camera for my needs ....:D

Since the no of 5D mKii owner are growing.

It may good to have a kopi session to share the among each other on the camera features, learn from each other owner how to operate the equipment in better way.

It kopi session can be last a hour or 2 to exchange idea, skills among them.common place at botanic garden, esplanse area, fort canning part, SMU campus, kallang river side or other
timing may be weekend...........
It can be cum outing afterward.:bsmilie:

Not need to peiseh, learn from each other to enhance experience.

It may call 5D MKII kopi session.
i can't join, not owning the MKII camera yet.
