9 + 6 af points only center is cross sensor and fps 3.9 :(

Care to start a new thread for the 5D MK3?

Mmm.... was really hoping for 2 model - aka 5D MkII & 5D MkII lite
Ditto. A "lite" full frame cam to fill in the price gap between 50D and 5D MK2. :sweatsm: I don't mind losing a few MP count and the HD Video capability as long as the price is right!

:Later,

You have sRAW for smaller files.

There is no doubt the 5D2 will easily surpass D3/D700 at high ISO.

According to the press release, it looks like the same CMOS used in 1Ds Mk3, with a more transparent color filter - if that is the case, one could expect marginal SNR improvement to 1Ds3 at higher ISO settings and slightly lower dynamic range at base ISO.

1Ds3 has similar (very slightly worse) total efficiency compared with D3, so I guess 5DII's sRAW1 should be similar to D3

I am not impressed.

5D MK 2 seems like a rushed job to match the D700.

The months after D300/D3 and the impending D700 have been spent in software improvments rather than real hardware advances. Much of the specs only slightly better than the 5D MK1. Movie mode is a waste of time for 5D customer base. Dropping the 1Ds MK3 sensor into the 5D MK2 is a no brainer. If I have the 5D Mk1 and dun need the extra pixels, I won't upgrade. I won't be surprised the current 5D will stay in the market to compete with the D700. Hmmm 5D MK1 and 5D Mk2 side by side - one at $2.5K and the other at $4K. I don't forsee a rush to sell the 5D MK1 for the 5D MK2.

My verdict - Can do better, Canon, please try harder next time. This model will not stay long in the market, the REAL 5D MK1 replacement is the 5D MK3.

You're not impressed simply because you don't see the need for 21MP high resolution, and HD video capture and native iso6400 (expanded to iso 25600). But others may want to have this flexibility of printing their photos big big without resorting to high-end MF digital backs, or perhaps the wedding photographer now have the option of capturing HD video snippet of wedding moments. And the sensor is not from 1DsM3. Just because the megapixels matches between 1DsM3 and 5Dm2, it's not so simplistic to just assume they're the same. 5DM2 has max native iso6400 vs 1DsM3's max native iso 1600. That's 2 stops advantage ! If you enable enhanced sensitivity, then it's 5DM2's iso 25,600 vs 1DsM3's iso3200. That's 3 stops advantage !!! How can they be the same sensor ? If you read the white paper and stuffs, you'd find that it's a specially designed sensor with gapless micro lenses for better light gathering efficiency. 5DM2 is targetted at a specific market. So if you find the features lacking, perhaps it simply means it's not targetted for your type of usage.

There's just no pleasing some people... High specs + high price, complain... Good specs + good price, still complain... Low price, moderate specs... still complain.

Until someone comes up with a 30MP, 15fps, Base ISO 25600, nuclear fallout-proof body for S$1.00.... Or an organic, just-add-water-and-get-a-camera-for-free product arrives...

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:
But since this is a forum, people can voice their complaints and different points of view here. Tougher customers will also mean better products in the long run.

This is not a 1-series and priced ONLY at S$3k+! With 2 stops better noise performance, 21MP/10MP RAW/sRAW files, and HD video, what else do you expect? Pro AF? You better wait for 1DMK4 and prepare to pay S$6K... For the vast majority who seldom shoot sports/birds, the 5DMK2 will be a remarkably successful camera as I see it.

I wonder if the mirror assy is improved? Else we will get mirrors falling out very soon. :D

Frankly, I'm never impressed with people who gets impressed with cameras. I'm more impressed with people who impresses with their photos.

Dude, you talked in the forum, the above statement should be posted in photo.net :sticktong

Gear and photography are two different hobbies for me :D

the 9AF point system may be disappointing, but its not a decider imo for many people.

3.9FPS.... how many times do you use a high burst rate as compared to single shots?

how many need the tracking, fast AF? the previous xxD and 5D already has a decent speed for AF in most situations.

HD movie is a plus for me, imagine being able to shoot the airshow of an aeroplane fly by with a 100-400 L.

weather sealing..... well i dont know you guys, rainy day= no shoot day for me.

whats there to complain? 21 MP with such high native ISO values and a beautiful screen, this one is gonna prove its worth in terms of image quality, not speed;p

btw, D700/D3 may be great for speed, af and FPS, but in terms of finer details and image quality, the 5D still dominates imo, and its 3 years old:)

look like 20d upgrade to 30d...:thumbsd:
really disappointed...

think just one year,5d mk3 will come out....
