8mm video on 5Dmkii?
I am interested in my TS-E 24mm video...
Miniatures in Motion.... (* Correction: In 1080p HD!*)

Me also anxious to find out! ;)
Seen the movies taken using 85mm, 70-200mm, 300mm.....

Im glad I did not wait before I turned into the dark side 2 months ago. :)

RAW: Approx. 25.8MB (5616 x 3744 pixels)
You will need 16gb at least for a decent shoot. 8gb might do, but i hate to shoot conservatively.

50-25,600 ISO - Interesting. Would be good if matched D3/D700 or even surpass them in terms of noise control.

3.9 FPS - Really is WTF.

9 AF + 6 assist - Disappointing. Hope the servo tracking af is better than mkI

I used 5D for sports and events. No issue with the AF.
Maybe, somewhere next year?

Nice to know that and 5d2 should be better. Furthermore I should be using cropped body for birding.

So other than all the minor quibbles there is no major reason not to get it. Just waiting for reviews and field reports then.

wah ...nice bokeh ... can make MTV liao ... and also now event photographer can charge double (photographer + videographer fee) ... kekeke

Quite impressed by the new 5D base on the described spec ... the low noise at high ISO with impressive high resolution ... i believe this is the very key essence (a strong portrait and landscape camera) of the formal 5D being carried forward. Of course, this product will not please those who wanted all the pro features in one cam and does everything for a good price :bsmilie: ...

Btw, the new battery management look impressive and practical too for "non-stop" shooting base on some quick read ...

Have to read and learn more about it ...

cheers!

You have sRAW for smaller files.

There is no doubt the 5D2 will easily surpass D3/D700 at high ISO.

But the low fps and few AF points shocked me. :dunno:

I guess this is a pure landscape photographer's tool.

videos

man look at the bokeh from the videos. the f2.8 ones nice..... :P

yeah... it's nice... but pro video cams have F1.2 lenses.... great bokeh too! haha....

okay I have just left my name on the waiting list of two local camera shops. Still remember 6 years ago I was the very first owner of Canon D60 in Singapore :bsmilie: Hopefully can get it by Nov!

How does the MkII compare with the Sony A900 ?

How will the prices of them compare in Singapore? Anyone any idea how the prices of each might turn out in HK or Bangkok?

Pete

No need to get shocked coz 5DM2 is not targetted at the same market segment as D3, D700 or the 1Dm3. These 3 cams are low MP, high fps. 5DM2 is high MP, low fps. Based on the 5DM2 bandwidth of about 21x3.9 ~ 82 megapixels/sec. Theoretically, if you drop the megapixels to 10.2M, then you can get 8 fps - but that's not the objective. Perhaps Canon may come out with a baby speed demon sometime later to complement the 1DM3.

Agreed.

It's model is similar to the 1Ds and 1D series.
1 is FF , 1 is Cropped.
1 has high MP count, 1 has lower MP count.
1 has high FPS , 1 has lower FPS.
Both has similar body design, make and built.

There's just no pleasing some people... High specs + high price, complain... Good specs + good price, still complain... Low price, moderate specs... still complain.

Until someone comes up with a 30MP, 15fps, Base ISO 25600, nuclear fallout-proof body for S$1.00.... Or an organic, just-add-water-and-get-a-camera-for-free product arrives...

even with that, there will always be something to complain about :D

i think they will think it's too cheap and complain about spoiling the market. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

I am not impressed.

5D MK 2 seems like a rushed job to match the D700.

The months after D300/D3 and the impending D700 have been spent in software improvments rather than real hardware advances. Much of the specs only slightly better than the 5D MK1. Movie mode is a waste of time for 5D customer base. Dropping the 1Ds MK3 sensor into the 5D MK2 is a no brainer. If I have the 5D Mk1 and dun need the extra pixels, I won't upgrade. I won't be surprised the current 5D will stay in the market to compete with the D700. Hmmm 5D MK1 and 5D Mk2 side by side - one at $2.5K and the other at $4K. I don't forsee a rush to sell the 5D MK1 for the 5D MK2.

My verdict - Can do better, Canon, please try harder next time. This model will not stay long in the market, the REAL 5D MK1 replacement is the 5D MK3.
