And the viewfinder coverage. 98%? Is it against the law to give 100%?

Just curious, that's all.

No built-in flash (so you can feel like a pro) and no 100% viewfinder coverage (so you can still hope to own the pro series), it must be a Canon.

one word reaction - dissapointing..

D700 with less megapixels is far more superior to this. If canon thinks that by this model they will be able to cut the market share of D700, they are under some wierd illusion which will soon send their market share bottoming down in FF cameras. Now even those canon loyalists who were holding on the temptation to change sides, will jump to D700.

ya... looking at the prices. .... i'd rather get a D700 :sweatsm:

Print button remain..... ;p

Battery grip looks like timber block again :( Is it so difficult to make something more streamline?

ya i is also sad of this :x

What were you guys expecting? Built-in coffeemaker with condensed milk? Papparazi mode? 11 FPS? You guys are hilarious. LOL!

Exactly the same sentiments. For this price, I am happy with this feature set. I suppose the fabled 7d or 3d will have more features which is not necessary for me. I just want a decent FF SLR. Now it is here. Video is a welcome bonus. Can use all the lenses to take video. Lovely! Have to wait till Christmas though.

At this price it is a good buy. Don't be too discouraged by those disappointed by the specs, it's just becos they have been speculating and hallucinating for too long that their expectations have gone beyond Canon's generosity. Just get it and if you dun like it there'll be plenty of buyers here.

Anyone has any comparison of the image quality vs the competition?

Other then more AF point & full wather seal, what is so great about D700 ? Really doubt that after hearing 5DII, you will see a mass defection to D700... Totally don't understand the logic here.

Granted, 5DII doesn't trump D700 hands-down, but with double the MP, HD Video, AF micro-adjust, and equal in all other areas, and a bunch of solid L-lenses behind them, let's be a bit more objective here... And saying 5DII release will send their market share bottoming down in FF cameras is quite laughable. A bit like saying BMW latest 3 series will just send them out of luxury car sedan market.

5D MKII is out... but some ppl not happy with the spec and price....

I don't know who other CS member think..??? between FF and Crop...

For that kind of price and spec... will it be better to get a 1D MKII Ds instead...???

But the ISO is impress..!!! 3.9fps... that will be not very impress..
HD video is good to have dont also no problem...

I'm sooo getting this new camera, love the specs and the price. Just called Cathay Photo to check if they started to accept reservation, they haven't started yet :embrass:

See you in the buy & sell section soon, gotta offload my beloved 5D, which served me well :)

Yeah man, can't wait to try my 85 1.2 on this with a HD video... a whole new world...

Simply love the HD movie clip of the beautiful model using the 85mm 1.2L lens .... the creamy bokeh in the video is really something I have been looking for!!

Me also offloading my cam soon. :)

hmmm, so all those variations like 6D or 9D or whatever D are all plain rumours?

wish Canon would release a more affordable FF cam, without the movie mode and less MP. I guess it's all marketing.

And yes, as some have argued, i think it's ridiculous they clamp down on the viewfinder size and fps, so like Canon.

Nevertheless, an attractive cam if you are a pro or enthusiast with $ to spare. Else 40D/50D is a lot more worth it in terms of features vs price for a good handful of hobbyists.

time for all canoners to pick up FF DSLR-HDDV now:bsmilie:

don't flame me, but these are my grimaces about the new camera which i though was disappointing.

1. Viewfinder coverage of 98%. i really thought it wouldn't be that hard for today's engineering to be capable of 100% coverage
2. 3.9fps. granted no one's expecting 11fps or even 9fps (maybe some), but i thought it would at least be 6fps?
3. Battery grip. looks like crap, possibly functions like one too. i don't use my battery grip much. i can't seem to find images of it, but if it does have the third AF-ON button then it wouldn't be too shabby.
4. AF points. no improvement at all..
5. Weather sealing.
6. Print button. what is it still doing there?
7. DIGIC 4 seems like its a bit of a gimmick. will have to wait to see the sample images if there's a marked improvement for IQ.

well of course there are other plus's that Canon has integrated into this model such as movie capability (12mins in HD mode) which is pretty great. but even if its 21MP, i reckon most people wouldnt require such many pixels...

but for roughly $3.4-3.6k for the body only.. not very expensive huh!
