What were you guys expecting? Built-in coffeemaker with condensed milk? Papparazi mode? 11 FPS? You guys are hilarious. LOL!

Totally agree. Just tickles my feet on how the trigger-happy cripplers in Canon cut it close.

3.9fps.... amazing... I suppose giving 4fps would mean their souls will burn in hell?

VF is the next funniest thing... 5D=96%, 5Dm2=98%,... and I'd like to put up a bet up for what 5Dm3 will be... 98.5%? 98.8%, 99%, 99.95%?

I'm sure it will produce images of the superlative order, and that's the be all end all.

I really want to meet up with Canon's product spec designers. Really. Even more than I want to meet Big Foot, The Abominable Snowman, or ET...

After included those features....what's next? Pay more $$$$?

Show me the money! :bsmilie:

Oh wait...

3.9 fps?!?!?!?! W-T-F?!?!?!?!??!?! I hope the Canon guys responsible for this get ALMOST promoted, and ALMOST got a pay raise, and can ALMOST give their wives orgasm.

And the viewfinder coverage. 98%? Is it against the law to give 100%?

Just curious, that's all.

Hahaha !!! I'm perfectly fine with 3.9fps, even on my 30D, i never turn on the 5fps, always shot with 3fps. kill the shutter slower, and fill up my CF card slower... Not like I need to have 15fps to make a movie clip from it. Oh wait, they can actually shoot 30fps in HD:bsmilie: 98% vs 100%, can I tell the difference, really ? They probably got a yellow sticky note from 1D division GM that make sure 5DII don't have 100% viewfinder.

I was hoping for an EF-mount D700. :D

Exactly! What a bunch of corporate spineless douchebags.

To clarify, GREAT DSLR, THAT WILL PRODUCE SUPERLATIVE IMAGES!!! Kudos to Canon for that

But from a 5D owner's perspective, nothing really compelling to upgrade.

Peace!

I see need for new computers (they recently announced new Cray supercomputers for home use) more HDDs and storage (Sandisk 32gb and cheap 1TB HDDs). These add up to a lot of waste of space and money if you are not using it for work. Those with money to burn is another story. :bsmilie:

(1) Large/Fine: Approx. 6.1MB (5616 x 3744 pixels)
(7) RAW: Approx. 25.8MB (5616 x 3744 pixels)

suddenly need larger CF cards liao.
my wallet is decidedly not happy with this development :bsmilie:

All the more reason to buy the WFT-E4...

Couple it with a SSD and you're set to go. :bsmilie:

Downloading a damn sample off the canon website already is a painful 12.5MB .. OMG

I come from a different starting point, 30D to 5DII... That would be a quantum leap ! Credit card standing by...

Sadly its not normal for canon's marketing people to do this .xx stunt on us.

This isn't the first and it won't be the last.

Canon being in the scene for so long is known NOT TO cannibalize their 1 Series class cameras. .. so such dramatic increases in functions will not occur.

Damn ... Just realised the batteries have changed also - No longer the venerable BP-511A being used.

hmm besides the ISO & HD video ... not much to me ;p haiz but looking at the price ....no choice haha and the 1D bodies...

Take a look at Rob Galbraith site on the new 5D Mk2. It provides more comprehensive info about the camera there.

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page.asp?cid=7-9316-9603

Quoted from the website
"Somewhat surprisingly, Canon has not adopted the 40D/50D's AF system which, on paper, is superior, given that all nine of its AF points are cross-type. Canon USA's Westfall says the reason for that is the "6 Assist AF points plus center point were deemed to provide a higher level of performance for AI Servo AF than the center point-only arrangement of the [40D and] 50D." Given that we've previously found the overall autofocus performance of the 5D to be decent, while the 40D's tracking capability has been erratic, if Canon had to choose between the two for the 5D Mark II they likely have chosen well"

Agreed! For those upgrading to FF, this is a very worthy contender. No qualms about it.

So should I get rid of my 40D or 5D to get this baby?

Headlining the 5D Mark II is a 21.03 million image pixel full-frame CMOS sensor that is derived from the sensor in the EOS-1Ds Mark III, but with several improvements meant to improve shadow rendering and noise levels at all ISO settings.

So I guess than the 1Ds Mark IV has the sensor of the 5d mk II LOL

Is there a microphone that can be mouted on a camera flash hotshoe? That would make 5DII a killer video recording tool due to clean high ISO and various lens options.

Fair specs for USD2699 I think. The "more transparent color filter" sounds dangerous but we'll see.
I'm getting one if ISO 3200 turns out well.

one word reaction - dissapointing..

D700 with less megapixels is far more superior to this. If canon thinks that by this model they will be able to cut the market share of D700, they are under some wierd illusion which will soon send their market share bottoming down in FF cameras. Now even those canon loyalists who were holding on the temptation to change sides, will jump to D700.
