Err... are you serious about the quoted price? I thought 18-200mm only is about 1000 something...
$1908 with GST for 500D body AND 18-200mm! This kit is only available sometime in May, but special "arrangement" was made and I've both 18-200 and 500D right now![]()

i dunno about you guys but to me, having video capability in a DSLR camera is a bit too much to ask for already. Its a feature I dont think shooters would use on an equal or more frequency than taking photos, otherwise just get a PnS with video or a videocam.
i feel exactly the same way. it kinda reminds me of handphones trying their darned hardest to make a super camera on a hp body rather than improve on the phone.
soon you'll see a dslr capable of becoming a webcam and do phone calls with a sim card slot (DISGUST!)
I thought there was AF in video. The contrast detect AF.
I was just thinking about this topic and why most people find it such a disadvantage to take videos without AF and I am immediately reminded of my experience with regular camcorders. In most camcorders, AF is good feature to have but yet it is not always reliable because it cannot read our minds. It tends to wonder off sometimes when we pan or change the scene because it doesn't know where or what we want to maintain the focus on. Sometimes this is not evident because the sensor of regular camcorders are so small which gives a greater DOF that the user may not notice the AF shifting. That is why movies are shot in MF - for precise creative control.with no AF in video.. its really not meant to replace any good old cheap camcorders..
