EOS 40D is out !

Is it? I through EF-S is for canon DSLR camera which was not FF and the focal length should be equal to those conventional lenses. That what I know for digital lenses.

Pls enlighten me if I was wrong. Any web site for ref.

EF-S designated lenses just mean that the image circle of the lens is not made for a full 35mm image plane (such as film or FF). All focal lengths, regardless of whether EF-S or EF, are still subject to the 1.6x crop factor on an APS-C body.

This is NOT a scientific test. Full size crop of a light colored background of a 40D (fr DPreview samples) and my 20D @ ISO 3200

20D @ 1/50S

40D @ 1/60S (IIRC)

Seems that the noise reduction of digic3 is really very good
an increase fr 8-10megapixels, one would generally expect increase in noise but there seem to be quite a reduction. Of course, i would like to reiterate this test is just

Interestingly, the upcoming Olympus E-3 has a flip out LCD...

I think we'll get more P&S-like features in DSLR soon hehe

definitely, since technology keeps improving. LCD has grown, live view is available in DSLR.. =D

Even if it is EF-S lens, the focal length stated is a standardized value to be comparable with those full frame lens (EF Lens)...
Ever heard of the terms "xx-xxxmm equivalant on 35mm film format" ?

hi Skyboy, the magnification is on the camera body , NOT the lens!

if the lens printed 10-22mm , it will be a 10-22mm if you used it onto a film based camera.

If you put the lens onto a DSLR with x1.6 factor, then the lens will appear to be 16-35mm .

the 20D looks to be better than the 40D

Ya juz a matter of time, as expected, like I've replied/mentioned in one of the thread of... aiya 4got/:dunno:at which post/s is that liao(coz jumping :gbounce:ard lah, juz a couple of days I think:think

Maybe by then 50D/or whatever name as it may be, might have "Swivel-LCD + ISO-3200-like-5D-ISO-3200 quality + 12mgpxls or more coz D300 now already equipped with 12+mgpxls + Double-slot-CF=might able to configure :bigeyes:as backup(=RAID) and/or 2-CF capacity + make sure its the cam's body and not just the CF/Batt area is weather-proof:bigeyes: + AF-points-layout-repositioning"

So till then, its really more worth the wait ya.(juz not too "impressive" for this one now)

Agreed when compared closely to 30D(believe still worth:thumbsup: the upgrade to some/individual preferences) and not like when 20D comparing with 30D, thats really no:sweat:, :bsmilie::bsmilie::sweatsm:
