waaaaaaa cant resist:D

thanks for contributing to this thread. Nice picture you are showing... Live view is indeed impressive. Especially for people that uses manual lens and need to perform mirror lockup ( preventing the mirror striking the lens ).

One more very important spec... it is a 3" high resolution LCD !!

For $2099 (retail price) is very value for money. :) Can't wait to try it at Commex.

Lolz .... Live view ... Nxt time when u see a babe , u can her to look at the LCD , not the viewfinder animore ~

i would want to try it out @ commex.. have to wrestle through the crowds.. =D

Can anyone explain what does auto ISO mean? I can understand when shooting in AV priority, it decreases ISO to avoid over-exposure. What about the part that states "M-mode ISO 400"? Does it mean that if I select a desired aperture value and shutterspeed and set at ISO 400, the camera will then vary the ISO value to get the correct exposure? If so, that's cool ~ ;p

maybe it will force the shops to increase their price over the RPP like mk3...out of stock everywhere...so cheap and so good!

an interesting accessory for the 40D.

Indeed interesting, like sony GPS.

Dont need the freebies, prefer to get it outside shops. :)

As like the 400D and 30D, Canon usually allow consumer to buy/pre-order at Commex as only a limited set is available. I bought my 400D at the commex almost a year ago and I was the lucky few who was able to bring the camera home on the spot. I had call various reputable dealer namely AP,CP and MS and they had quoted me a price difference from the retail price of only $80 with only the standard gift. The deal at Commex 06 was definitely worth it. And I was able to pay by 0% installment. :)

My friend did not believe the sales man words that only 50 sets were available for purchase and had to wait two to three weeks for stock to arrive from Japan. By the way, the price of any Canon DSLR will fetch a premium for the 1st month or so therfore sometimes is worth calling your local camera shop and check the price and head down to Commex and see =)

If I interprete correctly , Auto-ISO means that the camera selects the appropriate ISO when you are in either "portrait mode, landscape mode, sports mode etc", in the so-call creative zone. If you are in Maual Mode, meaning that you are using Av, Tv or Manual mode and you selects the aperture, shutter and ISO values, the camera will not do anything to the ISO.

then again, truly how many need the free gifts given during shows like Comex? some useless tripod, maybe a Canon camera bag? those really getting the 40D i believe would be more season liao and would already have CF cards of good quality and quantity and a firm and solid tripod.

sorry OT a bit :embrass:

advisable to get 40D for a beginner? or should i get the 400D? intend to use it for a long period of time...

True. Generally all their free gifts are of no real use.

From dpreview:
Auto ISO (400 - 800)
On the EOS 30D Auto ISO was available only in the Auto and scene exposure modes. Now it's available in all exposure modes and interestingly for the 'creative' modes (P, Av, Tv) starts at 400 and goes up to 800. It's a pity though that Canon still haven't implemented the very flexible automatic ISO seen in Nikon and Pentax digital SLRs which effectively becomes an 'ISO priority'.

Actually an auto iso range of 400-800 is not that useful as the range is too short. But it is better than nothing. Canon just like to artificially limit its cams, perhaps someone can hack the firmware.
