Just called Pics n Pix,

300D going for

$1745 (Cash), $1797 (Card), $1833 (Citibank 0% interest 12mths)

Very attractive offer.

I've called picnpixel last night to check with them stock on the 300D and at the same time asking why there are selling it @ their shop @ 1745.00 but when we call we get a higher price quoted. As told by the boss that those 'big store'
had report to Canon that they are selling below the street price and they are warn not to do it as they may redraw out to sell canon products. What a world :dunno: So to play save they have to quote at 'normal price' incase the caller is from canon to do a check.

the manufacturers do set price standards, so retailers who sold below the minimum allowed price may be blacklisted or would not be given priority for hot items.

would like to ask where and how much did you pay for EP-EX15 (eye-piece extender right?)? I'm interested to get one too...

Sell low blacklisted by manufacturers
Sell high blacklisted by us
What a world

Hi,

For those who wants to buy the EOS 300D please take note. Before you buy please watch out for the label underneath the camera, make sure there is a print "Made in Japan" is on the label. There are some shops selling the camera without the label "Made in Japan" and it's only shown on the outside of the box. I was told that those sets are made in Taiwan. Only the box outside says it's made in Japan.

This is really true from my experience when I purchase my 300D I notice some shops selling without the label Made in Japan and the other shops has it. So do take note if you are purchasing either new or 2nd hand set.

As for the lens all are standard made in Taiwan.

There are no price different whether it's made in Japan or Taiwan.

No matter how the set made in Japan is still better.

Regards
Kobashi

If your 18-55 lens is not USM version, then sad to say, you've just gotten the fake Made in Japan :bsmilie:

Don't know why people still particular about made in japan thingy. To me it's never mind whether made in japan, korea, thailand or whatever. In the end, still boils down to the photographer, which is most probably still made in Singapore what? :bsmilie: Make your country proud, show the world, made in taiwan 300D, but made in singapore photographer -> world class photo!

I'm sure most of us would like to buy a camera which is made in Japan if given a choice of both country. Unless "Boh Pian" that particular model which is not made in Japan such as A70 then you got no choice. Quality made is always the best that is made in Japan.

Btw the 18-55mm lens they do not come with USM type all are MM type. That's why the lens is lighter and cheaper.

The version of the kit lens released in Japan has USM.

Btw, from what I read, the 300D's destined for the Japanese market are made in Taiwan.

Thanks. I got mine from The Camera Workshop after CP told me it's out of stock :)

I got a Kiss Digital for S$20(equivalent) more that the 300D.
There's way higher demand for the Japanese body.
The shop did not have the Kiss Digital kits, so I asked for the Taiwan lens instead.

Anyway when hunting for my 300D, I saw a 300D kit box which states:
Body made in Japan.
Lens made in Taiwan.
here in Indonesia.

Is there such a thing as Japan-made 300D/D-Rebel???
From what I know the only Japan made is Digital Kiss.

Am I wrong?

From what I read, the only difference between sold-in-Japan-only Kiss Digital and sold-elsewhere 300D/Rebel is the lens.
Kiss Digital use the USM lens and 300D/Rebel uses non-USM lens.

The camera body is the same
