nice hehe... i presume 11-24, 24-70 and 70-200. add one more 200-400 F4 and you get non overlapping coverage to 400mm, with built in 1.4 TC to 560mm!

Thats right. I dont have a need for 200-400 other wise it would have been bought...
I have 16-35 f/4, 24-105 f/4 and 70-200 f/4 IS. All lightweight. Still wondering if I should replace my 24-105 with 24-70 f/4.
Anyway, with the release of the optically awesome 11-24, Canon has finally laid to rest all the years of endless derision that they cannot do wide angle lenses. Perhaps, it's time to work on their 35 f/1.4, 50 f1.4 and f/1.8, 85 f/1.2 and f/1.8. Also, more primes needed for their EF-S and EF-M users.

Canon refreshed their telephotos. Now seemingly updating their ultra-wides, but the 16-35 f/2.8 could also do with an update. Add in IS, improve the corners, remove coma/CA, better coatings... etc.
Canon's f/4 zoom lens range (8-15, 11-24, 16-35 IS, 24-70 IS, 24-105 IS, 70-200 IS, 200-400 IS) is pretty complete and updated now. Awaiting for them to fill up/update gaps in the f/2.8 zoom offerings.

I paid 3.8+k for a really hard to get lens at this point.
Is it worth it? Absolutely, for the widest rectilinear lens currently on the market and being an early adopter of it.
So no, it's not an overkill. I make the money back through photo work anyway

I have checked and it is about $3.7-3.8k from various shops.
Thats not too bad ... Their 14mm prime also near that range ...
But at the moment, my samyang 14mm manual sounds like a really good buy at $400 and its so easy to get the photos super sharp (if you take anything that is >3metres away and @ f8)

Some quick shots I did last night with the 1dx + 11-24 combo
they look pretty sharp but I must say the 11mm perspective is a bit weird for me
