#200

Shouldn't you at least credit the composition to the photographer who first took it or inspired you to take the same shot?

I had only seen the last 2 pages, yet I saw no less than 3 pictures that are using composition from others... #200 and #196 was originally by Stefan, #195 was by scintt.

nobody owns copyright of composition. simple as that. why you sound so much like stefan himself?

Sad to say, I'm still nowhere near Stefan. Neither in his skills nor in his humility.

It's simply called respect for other photographers. TS here blatantly stole compositions from other fellow landscape photographers, something that many will not take it lying down. I'm just speaking out my mind. It's not like those are old photos or commonly shot compositions, they are still relatively new so it's kinda obvious where it originally came from...

then u wait long long then. sg is so small, just shift a bit left or right, and it looks similar, then no one else can use the same composition?

what so great about composition ownership? bring u dough?

this is nothing about respect.

composition is just part of photography. u haven factor in the time of the shoot (to get the same exact exposure and lighting), the settings (aperture, ISO used etc), etc.

what if now i go around singapore shoot every single corner, do i expect to be paid tribute for having all these compositions?

so childish thinking i find.

and if u want to harp on composition ownership, then u might as well give up photography! cos u will spend more time looking at ppl's works and reprimanding them for stealing your composition then shooting!

and oh! i shot this on November 5, 2010 :

it just happens i walk pass this HBD flat and look up and fine it very symmetric, but I am sure some else did something similar in the past. so did i steal whoever that was his composition as well?

Oh dear, not this again. Although I do applaud the effort in searching for a unique angle, I have to admit that I got this far into photography by learning from others. I did not blindly copy though; I took inspiration from their angles and visited different places at different times to get a different light. C'mon, we all share this passion. Can't we be more willing to share tips and angles?

I guess I'd better get to crafting my die-cast steel plates with my name engraved on them. That way, I can hammer them into the ground whenever I discover a 'new' angle.

I'm sick and tired of this nonsense.

First there's Stefan, then there's Stefan's girlfriend trolling on my Flickr stream, and now there's Stefan's fanboy. :bsmilie: Some things never change. If Mythmaker really, really embraces that logic that he spouts, I'd like to see him post the same principle on every stream here. One could dig up an older photograph for at least one photograph in every stream, if you looked hard enough... :bsmilie:

Yeah, in fact the shot that got me the first prize in the recent iLight photo competition isn't an original composition. Does that mean I must track down the photographer who shot that angle first and pay him royalties? That's why nowadays I just 'credit' people for their angles, especially the more touchy ones. Appease them better lah, just to avoid all these meaningless debates.

P.s. I see that you were at CP6 last Saturday! I was there too! :bsmilie:

I wonder what happens if you have two touchy photographers, both who took the same shot and thought theirs was original.. Then you saw the second one's shot, credited it, and the first one starts bouncing around angrily demanding that both of you credit him. That would be the day. :bsmilie:

Yes hahahaha... I was there with my wife. Went back again the next day and saw your cool pile of vegetation but didn't shoot it, wait people say I copy also. So I shot another pile of vegetation (still processing) :bsmilie:

Hahaha! I'm just waiting for that day to happen; there's this huge bag of popcorn that's getting stale in my kitchen. It'll be hilarious to watch the exchanges! :bsmilie:

And CP6 is full of sandflies! Got a few nasty bites across my arms. At least no angles were blatantly stolen, wahahaha!

Wa....uncle WK, you stole people's composition ha?:bsmilie::bsmilie:
I'm probably younger than most of you or youngest and that makes me the biggest copycat of all !!!

Good night and YES MASTER.............

first time hear this...

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7111/7424326458_56b693c713_o.jpg

i think i also took same composition in year 2004 when i just got my D70.... so those who took after me must give me credit ?:bsmilie:

its not new already... sometime back... this stefa barged into this thread and start accuse ppl stealing his composition then he start to emo and announce in his thread saying want to leave clubsnap for good but i told him i hear such things till sian liao, and hes back as i predicted. so what kind of integrity/personality is this?

so now came another "stefan" accusing ppl stealing composition.

Cham .... I also got this CBD nightscape | Flickr - Photo Sharing! before ..... like that how. Heng my one not as nice .... LOL ...

If really got such rule I think I better continue to shoot only at my service balcony ... ha

Bro WK , if u interested can drop by my place .... I will not charge any copyright fee shooting at my house ... hahaha

I applaud mythmaker's effort in collecting the references, but this is not about myth making.
If I had to shoot angles that many had gone way before me and worry who I need to pay credit to, i might as well don't take up photography? Heng most my shots not that good/unique angles and mostly are overseas...:)

Wa, Feb 2011. You are the earliest so far!!! :bsmilie:

no no no .... The exif data was the image I use to create the frame.... hahaha ... it was taken April this yr lah

However still earlier then u .... lol .... how how how

Silly. I have not known that I can't take a photo at a particular angle just because someone else took it. The same angle which if i copy from someone who took it well, doesn't mean I will take it well. I can copy the angle, but I cannot copy the image due to technical deficiency. You give credit when you use a work originating from someone else, but composition doesn't belong to anyone. Just my 2 cents worth.

Let's just do a straw poll of who has taken the shot before me/Stefan in Kopitiam... Then if the number of photographers coming forward is less than 100, I list all of them in the Flickr page. :bsmilie: I dare say got more than 100, if everyone see the thread and respond truthfully. :bsmilie: Then Mythmaker must also post the same thing on all the threads in CS who have posted this angle before, if he is really, really interested in his brand of justice. He has been online quite often after posting those two posts but doesn't seem to want to respond. :bsmilie:

P.S. Wa, you teach me new trick, next time I set EXIF to be AD 3000 and paste photo on top... Then all of you have to credit me!!!!

Phahahhahahahaa Can't stop laughing .......

OK I go set BC 1000 ..... I win .... LOL

Wow so long never drop by this thread so many exciting things happened!

Anyways just take it as a compliment that people bother to troll you with regards to stealing their unique compositions. It must mean you're doing great work that they feel threatened enough for whatever strange reason to try n put u down for silly things like that.

In comparison nobody trolls my posts accusing of copying their unique perspective even though that's precisely what I've been doing ever since I got my camera! :p keep up the good work n don't let such people disturb you n keep posting! :)
