how do you get such clear reflections for 186? Just have to wait for a particularly calm day? Whenever I try long exposure shots of water I just end up with blurred reflections.

Yes, there are two points that are required for good reflections -

1) A lack of current
2) A lack of wind

The first is much more important than the second. For reservoirs and closed bodies of water these are less affected (Kallang Basin has been a lot stiller after Marina Barrage was put up) by current, naturally... Yet they seem to still have current. Not a hydrologist so I can't really explain why or predict this..

Being a person of rather limited knowledge in these areas.. I guess yes, you just have to wait and watch your luck.. In general, I seem to have more luck in the mornings rather than the evenings.. I hope this helps!

Are these recent? I've never gotten mirror reflection off the bay area. wonder if the recent weather has anything to do with.

I saw similar reflection and sky last Friday when I was there for sunrise shoot.

Lol i stayed from 6:20am till 7:30am. I was taking the MBS repeatedly beside another guy for quite a while before i shifted over to the esplanade as I notice the most beautiful part of the sky was above the marina square and flyer area. The sky was beautiful that day so i hung around to look at the sky after it turned bright.

.....almost 200 photos posted regularly, all with consistently high quality.
you make it seems easy, and that anyone with a dSLR can take the same picture.....until I go out and shoot, then I realize that I need talent + skills + effort like yours to be able to produce these photos.
