I find it difficult to believe that discussion over an unreleased product can span multiple threads.

Have a look at dpreview.com's Olympus forum. Its really wild in there right now. :)

Yupe ... less than 24 hours after release, it is already the thrid most clicked camera in dpreview ....

BUT our own MISTER Mod has done a great job of making things easy for us here in the little island of Singapore by making ALL of us just stick to ONE GIANT thread. Maybe so we can create the world's longest discussion thread on one camera model?

Because we need to limit our imagination to one thread ....

So use your imagination on a single thread; when you do have real issues with the 620, which I doubt any of you would have at this present moment, then "another thread" would have relevance.

If not, just keep the back slapping on this thread.

*slap* wonder when a REAL issue will pop up ... :hung: ...... yawn ... *slap* *slap*

Having read through this thread many thimes, I still find no problem ... yeaaaahhhhh .... the E-620 is a great camera. It seems like it has everything for everyone so there is no issues with it so ...... lets continue in this thread .....

:p:p

Since you seem to be so happy about this cam... MTL BBB!!! :bsmilie:

Haha... office hours is the only time I get to surf the web ;)

Yes, I am excited with this announcement, been a long time coming... the annoying camera strap eyelets that is in the 'wrong' place (on the E420 body) is now in the 'right' place... :D

How's your G1?

Camera wise ok. Panasonic not ok. 45-200mm kit lens out of stock for 3mths and no sight of it at all.

Gonna jump ship over to Olympus... It's either this new E620 or the M43 which they had yet to announce...

Seems like moderators here LOVE Giant super long threads ..... :dunno::dunno::dunno:

I guess this will form the basis of ALL E-620 discussion from today onwards .... what crap ....

Sigh .... wet blanket .... :dunno:

bro, chill la. its just a camera announcement. your posts lamenting how long this thread is or will be is going to drown out the discussions on the camera itself. peace.

Is the E620 a replacement of E520 , or a addition to the range?

based on the press release, it is an addition to the range.

olympus has not made any announcement to discontinue the E420 and E520, but according to posts on dpreview, the E520 and E420 availability in Japan are already starting to drop.

so paint your own picture ;)

I almost fell over when I saw that they'd replaced the 1990s AF system with something competitive. No more laughing from reviewers in the near future? Well, the xD Picture card is still humourous since Fuji has all but abandoned it. SD cards (and not microSD), please.

It should be interesting to see what's in store, but this should shake things up a bit and give Sony's people a reason to check the medicine cabinet for antacid tablets.

I'm almost ready take back most of the bad things I've said about Olympus, but they need to sustain this level of change to be competitive.

agreed,i think E-620 is like, when E-510 and E-410 came out,one was better than the other, and now with the 3 cameras in ranking,1st being E-620,than E-520 and E-420,so i guess the replacments for E-520 and E-420 will have specs similar to E-620,but retain their size,so there's the option of having the smallest body with IS (in E-620) slightly bigger body with bigger grip and longer batt life (E-520) and smallest and lightest body (E-420)

Just being the devil's advocate... do you think there will be a E-720?

agree with dicam, time will tell, but most likely from my own guess is no,unless it's a replacement

A little question bro,

Would you pay an extra $100 if Olympus adds HD video recording on E620?

wow there is much excitement about this camera. cant wait for PMA... maybe there's even more surprises coming (and from other brands too)

i think for what e620 offers, its great already. its answers a lot of things that entry-level dslrs need. and assuming it will be on arounk 1k price range, should be a good buy

video of e620 short demo

btw the guy in the video also mentioned a mFT cam coming this year

I think Olympus did well in their marketing effort this time round for the e620. When it was announced, all the major sites including reported it. They even have pre-production unit for the more popular sites(dpreview, dcresource etc..) to do a preview along with the announcement.. very well done, Olympus!!

I thought they pretty much did the same thing with the E-30?

Your question does not serve any purposes at all. This model is already announced and the specification is final. Why this and why that? :dunno:

I must say that the E-620 is the first 4/3 DSLR to get me take out my $$$ even before it is available.

I am into 4/3 because of the small and light advantages it can offer, thus the E-1, E-3 and E-30 didn't work for me while I always wished for the guts of these higher end 4/3 DSLRs to be placed into something the size of E-4XX/5XX. For anything larger, I will rather go for FF or a DSLR with a superior sensor such as the S5 pro. I like my E-420 a lot but it is a little limited by the lack of IS, narrow DR, smallish VF and slow AF speed.

Short of weatherproofing which is not that critical, that has become reality with the E-620.

I think that Olympus just saved their 4/3 platform with the release of this camera.
