Disappointed with Canon Service Centre

afaik, warranty is not transferable. that's why, many prefer un-registered warranty when buying 2nd hand items...

i still got confirence with CSC...

I believe there is another clause dat says product must be registered within certain number of days (usually 7) from date of purchase. For those using unfilled warranty tactic, dun be surprised later on they also dun honour due to breach of this rule.

At de end of de day, if de company wants to be ngiau, a second hand buyer can't win.

Just went there last month to repair my dslr which is still in warranty. Did not ask for my id.

They just checked the s/n in the computer. The staff quite helpful.

Can also take free magazine, free coffee ;p

Always smile and talk politely. Get you very good service in return. :)

I think any Canon Service Centre anywhere in the world will receive its share of complaints from the local customers. I have dealt with CSC Singapore and Toronto and can say that both are quite good. CSC Singapore is much, much cheaper and a little more convenient. CSC in Toronto is convenient too as long as you live in the area but when you live 3000 kms away, your only option is to ship it to the centre which takes more time and money.

The best showroom I've seen is the one in Hong Kong. They display all the cameras from the Ixus right up to the flagship 1D models. Additionally, every lens from UWA primes to 600mm telephotos are available to be "molested". It is truly a camera enthusiast's candy shop!

Totally agree. Unfortunately, reality is dat most of us don't.

Yongliang, you might want to ask the previous owner to transfer/change the warranty profile under your id.
i bought used camera under warranty from bns & the seller change the warranty profile under my name. :)

I dunno about some of the posters here but I'm in the service line and my experiences @ CSC has been always great. Times I've used their services:
1. Sent in a fungus infected 350D (no warranty, paid)
2. Calibrating of 500D with kit + zoom lens (under warranty, free)
3. Cleaning of 500D sensor (under warranty, free)
4. PPP program for printer (they were extremely helpful and did go out of their due to my unique request)

So, mileage may vary but I believe it boils down to the communication between both parties.

On one hand, we have the official warranty policy stating that the warranty coverage is non-transferable. Then we have ppl linking a Clubsnap link to "prove" that it is transferable. Which is legally accurate? That they choose to honor any warranty that has been transfered is, in fact, bending their rules, which is aka a luxury.

I feel it's always about the approach. They're human too so treat them so.

When i call up CSC recently to enquire about extension of my 50D body warranty(Purchase from B&S), i told the lady that i got it 2nd hand..So what if i need to send it down for servicing but it's not registered to my name..The lady just told me "Tell them that you're sending on behalf of my friend"
