Delhi & Uttar Pradesh rejoiced (horizontal series)

#135 a local shop that almost look like a kodak film developing shop, but nope, i think they are selling something like medicated oil probably , judging from the bottle and leaves painted on the top left.

yes, position to the ground. but i wasn't looking into the viewfinder. i think i'm looking upwards while kneeling low, for safety as i think i'm pretty close to the subject perhaps abt a 1m or so

#141 takes of phulpur, a small village on the way from allahabad to varanasi. through the long hours of boring waiting and dozing off on the train, the small villages in between are the only window of interest where isolated tele-snapshots are the only opportunities becos there is little choice of vantage. i rarely takes tilts, but a high vantage is one of those situations that i thought a dynamic angle is allowable and potentially effective.

#144 saw a few guys in similar saffron attire. isn't sure if they are monks but they all have this little stripe of hair that is noted at the vertex of the head, something very similar to what we see of the manchurians on tv series.

#146 night bazaar near new delhi train station

unsatisfied with the handling of the dark skin tone and poor optical quality in shadow area, i have re-edited the photo and repost. original edit taken off.

I have to say you have imspired me and i suppose alot other photographers to do a better job after looking at your series.

I will take this opportunity to talk about my feelings about photography (in terms of Travel photography). I feel that to me photography is to visually narate what you see, what you feel and what you think abt the place you visit.

I personally have hated myself for alot of things when it comes to photography. Eg. not capturing the right moment at the right time, bad composition leading to spoiling the image, slow startup time of the cam leading to me missing the oppurtunity to capture a particular moment (juz to name a few). I feel bad as I tink I did not do justice to myself and the image.

Lastly, keep those photos coming!

actually i'm pretty impressed with your japan pictures, although you didn't post more of it. they have a good natural tonal and dynamic range with just right a contrast (sounds like a good sized sensor) but are you using a compact camera with a slow startup time (DSLR usually have fast startup)???

from what you mentioned above, it sounds like you will benefit from a body with faster startup time and bright clear viewfinder, which may mean a DSLR. not sure how a good prosumer fare in terms of startup time and LCD lag.

another thing depends on how you bring around your camera, i.e. how accessible. i used a chest harness, so the body always dangle about in front of me, making it fast for me to snap. you can check out the thread for travelling in my signature, a picture is inside.

however, minus point is that i have learnt a hard lesson of how to handle my gear better as i once loss a lens cap due to poor handling while going up a slope (luckily the build of nikon is good and my body looks as good as new), in the end i dare not used that lens for fear of dirtying it without a cap. another minus point is i do not have any conspicuity, and that's why my group leader decided that i shall not show my face when bargaining for tut tut charges....

#148 view of connaught circle from parikrama, the revolving hotel. took this pic by using guidebook and tissue papers as "bean bag"

#149 teabreak on high ground, perhaps as high as 10 floors? we are on top of hotel alka, and the man having his afternoon tea is on the another building to the right of hotel alka facing the yamuna river.

didn't imagine posting the same trip over a year.... but i still got more. emmm... maybe will top up to #150 and happy new year, everyone.
