#128 snapshot at the new delhi train station. we reach india in the same evening and moves on to the next destination the same night. it is indeed tiring, as we are shooting with a 8-12kg backpack each on our back. by the time we reach the train station, we manage to put our bags down and take turns to guard our bags. if not, i wouldn't be able to squat/kneel down for this shot. if i do that, i may never get up.

nope, i think you are right. it is a kid. i check again and see there are some other older kids around with little horns, so i guess they should be of the same group and are not lambs. without the horns, i find it difficult to tell between the two.

#130 i wonder what do we call the reverse of a typical silhouette. in this case, the interior wall of the agra red fort are sort of silhouetted and the windows and doors show the light entry.

Ahhh . . .kid. .yes. .i was thinking of the young of a goat but just couldnt recall.

I will be departing for Delhi in bout a week's time. Travel period will be about 2 weeks. Destinations wise is still really unfix. I just have my airtickets to Delhi confirmed and thats about it.

Might be doing:
Delhi-Agra-Varanasi-Jaipur-Jodpur-Jaisalmer OR
Delhi-Agra-Varanasi-Nepal-Delhi

From the dates of ur travelmates picture posts, i reckon you travelled in the dec/jan period as well??

May I ask:

Is it bone-chillingly cold? I read the weather is about 12 degrees which i think its still ok. How was it for your group?
Food? My worst fear is getting sick, moreover i will be alone, so its troubling me abit.
Train? Wise to splurge abit more on 1st class? I read in another of ur mates thread that the train ride was horrendous. Delays after delays.
Photography? How did u hide or safekeep ur equipments?

Thanks. :)

either way, it looks like a big loop. delhi and agra in the centre.

jan.

it's alrite in the day. but drop to below 10C i think at night, especially when we are out in the open by the river - that is bitterly cold, might be down to zero, i'm not sure.

there is a short note at the start of the page. you can check it out. still very confused about the trains there. it is better to spend more on the better class, i think, esp if the trip is long.

Photography? How did u hide or safekeep ur equipments?

i use safepac to lock the backpack on the train. other than that, i use holster system and do not hide my equipments. but then, i travel in groups (usually in pairs or in 4s), which thus is different.

Excellent photos!

I have been wondering, did u used polarizing filters for most of ur shots?

Do u hav recommended readings on the topics of filters as i am new to it n wld like to know more.

i almost never use polariser until the recent trip to perth region. reason being i change lens and use GND filters frequently, so using of polariser becomes too much of a hassle or burden. i recently got a domke journalist vest which enabled me to be able to put filters in a more accessible and clean environment, hence i start using it more liberally, but noted the extent of two effects to my dismay.

it can add on to the polarised gradient of the sky in a vertical fashion and also reduced the vibrancy of the colors despite of able to darken an existing color to contrast against bright subjects (in particularly against bright white or yellow). you probably got to try it out on your own and scrutinise repeatedly on your screen to perceptualise it.

you can do a search in the forum or in the sharing thread in my signature, something i wrote based on my understanding. there are also plenty of online information, as well as books on lighting - all covering filters to different extent and certainly more than online.
