#116 river bank of varanasi into the night

I look at this thread and I'm reminded of the Energizer bunny, forever going and forever having sufficient new and interesting image to show. Very productive indeed.

#115 a little unconventional here. i pushed the eyes even more to the edge to create tension to the eyes. but maybe i've overdone it with my experiment....

I think so, at least should maybe have both his eyes visible, then i'd think also having some lines moving away from his eyes would perhaps add to effect you wanted.

Angles, color and subjects... all lined up so nicely with space to balance. I like this image very much.

#107 another example that the Indian folks at India never run out of different pose and expression.

Ooo.. this is what holy men should look like, great find. Would have allowed him to look into space.

I think you should whack in more vignetting for this, the mood is perfect but in this case the space doesn't seem to add to composition as both are floating in the middle. If you have it in panorama format 6x17, this would be an excellent image!

the man in #107 does not appear like a holy man. he posed for us when he saw that we are talking his photographs, and he starting looking upwards into empty space and put his hand up as shown.

actually this one looks more like a holy men. he appeared near the burning ghat and looks serious. unforunately my close-up is blurred due to motion. i have other shots of this holy men in wide angle but did not capture his expression.

it is only fairly sharp if i shrunk it into 150px wide... gd enough as a thumbnail only on my widescreen monitor. it may still be blur if viewed on another monitor.

Hmm.. i cannot see his hands. Since he posed for you then you should move closer to get his picture on super-wide, should be really cool then show it to him. He'll sure like it.

This is very cool expression. Oh well, we win some, we lose some.

Also recently, I've discovered works of Olivier Follmi which I've seen all over Nepal bookshop but just that didn't find him around here. Think you'll like his work as well.

yah, i rem. i got another shot in wide angle by standing further but there's motion blur. i know theoretically it should be better. guess it's got to do with timing.

oh, yah, i like the work you show me. will do a little surfing and a break from processing. i didn't realise the amount of portrait i've got. i try to disperse various types of shots when posting, but i realise a bulk that is left to be processed (maybe another 10-20 more pics) are about 2/3 all on portraits.

#117 just one more before taking a break.

opening to various subject matters allows different composition to be tried. the more cliche a subject is visualised in my mind, the more difficult it is for me to have satisfactory take, which perhaps is why i can't take better pictures of the standard shots like the coastal and the buildings, but tends to be lucky with odd shots.

#121 a lucky shot when we passed by the camels. they are almost as tall as a bus or a lorry. huge creatures they are. i never know and think they are only as big as a horse, but i'm wrong.

Hi Zoossh,
Just saw this thread and I was amazed by the photos you took. You make even the simplest thing looks nice in your picture. I mean look at the picture of the peanut shells. Most people will not even look at it twice much less take a photo of it. I think that's what separates a great photographer from an amature like myself. Keep posting. I like your series a lot.

Hey Zoossh, I am wondering why most of your photos seem to fill with tint of Pink and Purple( also in other series )?
It is fine to have a “Non-true” color to enhance the feel you wish to portray for some pictures.
Do apply sparingly; you might lose the true color presentation and misled the viewers about the place especially for Travel photography..Could it be due to your filters or PS?

Just a thought to share.:)

Had noticed the same too for a while - general pink/purple tint with hint of a use of a graduated filter at the top of the pic.

I'm assuming that this is a standard PS workflow that zoossh is using. :) It lends a certain nostalgia to the pics similar to the National Day song MTVs of long ago, although in time, I hope to see zoossh's PS repetoire grow beyond that.

both right. they are grad filters with inherent tinge. at times, they add and at times, they become a hindrance. i take further discretion to modify and refine the graduation to my likes on post processing. as for the colors, if i didn't see a significant color conflict, i generally leave it alone, thereby leaving most of them with a magenta-purplish hue while some turn a little tobacco depending on the time of day and the colors of the sky behind the glare.

thanks, mel. i see the need to move on. in fact the more i shoot and look back, the more i realise my weakness, and not strengths. i'm a slow guy and moves on with my adaptability to handling of my camera. my next target is to get a singh ray vari-ND and try out more immediate shutter durations. hopefully in 2 years time, i can get a good mid long tele and move on to sports and events. in between i would consider a body with better visualisation window as i find an impedence to my vision.

as for PS. i have certain preference but i dun have a standard workflow.
