#168 another lovely shot of the chipmunk near taj mahal. over here, with some patience, it is not too difficult to get near them when the locals fed them with bread crumbs

Hi, just spent the whole night marvelling at your colours and compositions.
quick question, this one is shot with AF or MF?

i use AF. only the true masters use MF.

early morning on yamuna river. after suffering for a whole cold night at the
river bank, the morning light offers much console.

as encouraged, i did a pseudo-b/w version, though through very processes
from the earlier colored version

yes!!! the black and white here speaks a lot more than the yellowish casted original photo..

i do wish you would post larger photographs though.. 650 longest edge for horizontals all the way up to 800 is better.. at the current size (which i recall, you downsized from a while back) i cannot make out a lot of details, which could really make or break the photograph.

it would be difficult to make that decision. i find the picture looms too big when it is on a small screen elsewhere while not
too small on mine (mine at home is a wide screen 20"). let's see first.. for the benefit for your viewing, i post a larger one
here.

we pass by a location where free ginger tea is offered to the pilgrims (and us)
who are on their way to sangam for the Kumbh Mela. some man respectably
dressed may be sacred man.

i do prefer this over the black and white one maybe because the colour shows much originality in the scene itself at night lit by street lamps :)

thanks, sprintist. but i hope i can find a way out of the over-empowering orangish wb at night. the tungsten/incandescent wb does not totally resolves it. i find it hard to strike a balance of maintaining the ambient light atmosphere while retaining some colors of the subject, but it seems always to fall either on the former or the latter and not in between.

street portrait, allahabad,
note the guy with the jaundiced eyes, the color is not photoshopped away becos i think there is the value of depicting that. perhaps if i could speak hindi, i would ask him not to drink so much alcohol. and i suspect he take betel nut too.....

I love this one. What gear did you use? Such lovely colors and exposure!
