Another excuse is that you don't like Odex's dubbing. Odex does not own the rights to all anime. But that does not mean that one should d/l anime also. Learn to respect intellectual property.

You're absolutely right. But it's the court that should being issuing the fines, not Odex. It's the creators that should receive compensation, not Odex.

The fight is not about justifying wrong actions. Flouting the law means flouting the law. Illegal means illegal. But in this case, it is turning into an unethical money making opportunity.

I could start an Anti Piracy of Photography Association, then get licenses to distribute photographs for a couple of photographers, then threaten legal actions and out of court settlements to the entire online community that downloads photographs. Giving the excuse that I'm fighting piracy, and that I'm claiming for costs. That's profiteering. That's what people are voicing out against. Not making excuses for the wrong acts. Try to get that clear at least.

i think you should have posted this in the other thread you started. This one ot already.

if your friends really wanted to help you then they shouldn't have mentioned here that you have color blindness.

its a fact i can't change what... nothing to be ashamed of... correct?

you sure there'll be criminal record? record for the child or the parent?

That's the problem, not sure and thus fear of the unknown.

The court can hand down a suspended sentence. The kid might be put on probation and required to do community work. If at any point during his probation he commits the offense again ... BOOM!

Same thing applies. Would any parent want to risk that? If this is the sentence that Odex will use this as an example for the rest to see.

I think he was.

But there was also the teen who illegally used his neighbour's WiFi, he was put on probation. Different crime, I know, but it does show that the courts are willing to be lenient to young offenders; but if I remember correctly for this case, his lawyers had to show that the kid was an Internet Gaming addict.

Yep, yep.

I'm not sure about Singapore, but in some countries, like Canada, having a suspended sentence still means that you'll have a criminal record.

either way, i think it's wrong for Xedo (hehehe, everyone loves the new term) to ''ask'' for such a high sum of compensation from the parents when even the court is not going to be so heavy handed on the kids.
