I'm no clearer
but I prefer a more 'oomph!' coming to my half shutter feel haha. not all feel the same coming to shutter 'resistance'. My guess is as long as it's within Oly stipulated tolerances it's ok which anyway is the norm for cameras.
I'm quite confident u will experience different 'feels' on dec 3 but we will see how it goes.
The Oly engineer however was very clear in that we can always drop by and tweak it to our liking.

Oh u mean we can do that? I shld go down to ask Olympus to tweak my EP5 half press. I feel its not sensitive enuff -_-
Yup , I was told that though I didn't go for it in the end.
Simply got used to the slightly different feel of the half press and shutter after shooting more : )

No other brands ah. Just my own subjective judgement to prefer a 'clearer' half shutter feel.
Think the meet up on dec 3 will be good to compare this , glad u brought it up
But , line still stays in that I gotten used to mine already. Not going to tweak it if it already works fine.

What is really ruffling my feathers is the DIFFERENCE in shutter release feel between the E-M1 body and the HLD-7. The same happened for the EM-5. Looks like Olympus have more than one design team working on hardware, or either that, they have to seriously look into QC issues and change suppliers.

ah? i can't comment since I don't have the EM-1 much less than HLD-7. If that's the case, it'll be something irritating for me , but that's me being sensitive to these things and wanting them to conform to a certain min standard. Weird to say but the overall feel of the product is something impt to me.
U brought up in comparison to other brands hmmm.. reddot here will bring his P n S to show what's was my concern when i first got my EP5. Nothing's better than the feel compared to a whole paragraph of descriptions. In short, the lesser amount of 'resistance' between half press and exposure bothered me. Getting a soft button helps.

What's the problems you're facing boss? I realize that there's a huge difference for the D700 and the grip as well, the D700 feels "normal" but the vertical grip is super sensitive
hey guys, 1st timer here. hoping to join the meetup.
wanna share that in the process of talking to Amos from Olympus yesterday about a problem with the lever switch, he mentioned that if i waited afew more days, a new firmware would be available. I declined as I need the camera this friday.
I've had abit of problem with the build quality of the em1 but thankfully the shop I got it from has top-notch service. got it from changi T2 duty free (Sprintcass). I'm actually on my 3rd em1 set. 1st set had random no sd-card errors (used 2 brand new san disk cards), 2nd set had a dead-on-arrival lever switch (discovered the next day only). no pain 1 to 1 switch. 3rd time lucky i hope! if i went through olympus they wanted to take it in for afew days and 1 to 1 was not likely.
So if the new firmware is out b4 3/12, I as a total newbie would love to hear about the updating process and how great the updates

As with all things firmware I prefer to wait till others have updated, especially since i have zero experience updating camera firmware. lol.
I had gotten a bad set for my previous camera too so no biggie, that plus all the rave reviews of the EM-1. fwighting!

See if you have one of our guys' number. Call if you are not too tired. Sometimes, we might stay even longer. We used to stay until wives start calling out of panic... "WHERE ARE YOU!!!" then we all break up and go home. I miss those crazy days. We had so much fun after TCSS session, followed by a simple shoot.
Want me to bring the one you passed to me?
