[ Dating ] ... just kidding... kopi session announcement... 3rd December 2013

I ask for Benare's car keys... and it shall be done... (actually I asked before and he said ok... that is how sweet that fella is)...

EVERYONE PLEASE NOTE

I always want to remind everyone that at such gatherings please please please please please treat all the cameras and lenses with utmost care. If you have sweaty palms, please go wash your hands or ask if anyone have a wet wipe. If you borrowed someone's lens to play with and when you notice there are dust on it when you are returning it, please be "automatic" and borrow a blower to remove the dust before capping it and returning to the respective owners. This is our community etiquette.

Their generosity also does not mean you should be thick skin and ask to borrow the lens to take home. Don't create that awkward moment. If you need the lenses to test, either "go on a date" or look for the lens rental companies ok? I know some of the guys are really sweet but this is not the chance to make them feel that they are being taken advantage of.

Have the community spirit... and look out for one another.

ps. If someone intends to bring down rare and expensive glass like Leicas, Otus, etc. Please frigging tell me in advance. I get super stressed out when the lens are passed around. Especially when removed from the cameras.

Noted. Of course who would be that thick-skinned to bring somebody's lens home?
*Raising my hand up* Sir, can I bring my MacBook Air to compare IQ on either Preview or Lightroom applications?

You'll be surprised. It happened before and I stopped it. But it was awkward for everyone at the table when that happened. It was a long time back.

Don't understand your question here. Please kindly elaborate.

Would love to come but I only have old epl1 and other of my old lenses. So I won't be bringing them along. By the way is Olympus much cheaper in japan? Going there for holidays soon.

There is no discrimination on "those who come must have shiny new gear" so I don't know where you got that idea from. In fact, we will have users of other platform join us (common)... though I like to make fun of Canon users. In fact I prefer to talk more about photography than gear.

If you know where to shop, Japan can be cheaper. Depends on which part of Japan you are at, how good you are at bargaining, and what you are buying. But yes, you can get good deals in Japan.

(Those who are regularly shopping in Japan or are living in Japan, care to share?)

There might be ppl who are looking to get the piece of old glass you're holding onto anyways :p

The 14-54II is interesting ;) though I've no idea how'd feel with an adapter mounted on the EP5 haha

I mean, can I bring my MacBook Air along to view images for comparison of 12-35mm and 12-40mm?

Oh... sure... But you won't find much difference... except maybe CA and purple fringing...

it is the physical aspects of the 12-40Pro that makes it a gem.

Bring ah , but eh .... U won't see significant difference if it's sharpness differentiation u r looking for. U can try my 12-40 on the day itself while I busy myself with the FT lenses from Benares ;)

It's the overall user feel and quality physical build that makes the difference. Be ready to be poisoned.

Only irritant so far is my own doing, I'm still getting used to turning the other way to zoom moving from the 12-35 to the 12-40 haha.

I have E-P1 and E-1, isn't that worse? :bsmilie: Plus I'm using Nikon now and like what microcosm say, we're all cool

You'll get used to it, shooting film with Canon then digital with Olympus, going to Nikon is a 180 for me hahaha

Ok thanks Sir.
See y'all on 3rd Dec then.

Hi all,

This event sounds great!! I would drop by if my schedule permits.

I have just switched from DSLR to M43 with my GX7/20f1.7 and loves it.

I am very new to M43, maybe I join and learn how M43 works in details? Pls do not mind me asking tons and tons of questions.:cool:

PS. Has anyone tried any vintage Leica lense like Summitar 50mm / Summicron 50mm / Elmar 90mm/ etc. on M43 camera?? I would love to know more on that as well.

Quite a number of Leica/Leica lens users amongst us, see if they will be coming or not.

Anyway, see you at the event and bring your camera down. There is a "team Panasonic" presence for sure. LOL!

Want me to bring D3 down for comparison? :bsmilie:
