Made myself a promise to use what I have and not even think about any more bazookas for at least 1 more year...

Thank you sir! I was in the mountains for 4 days 3 nights, but the drive from HCM to the region is around 6.5 hours each way. So effective trekking and shooting time is 2.5 days (daytime). We hiked in the mountains for average of 5km each day with full gear in mountain roads and paths. It was very tiring. But we will usually spend hours in a few locations known to be home to plenty of birds. Accommodation is very spartan. Food was really good, even though we ate in very simple local hole-in-a-wall joints. Memorable one was at a local fish farm where we just talked to the staff there and they cooked for us. The boss dropped by to say hi. Apparently one of our birder friends are good friends with the owner. Fish was excellent and super fresh (direct from the ponds...)

I spent another 3 days in HCM city itself, also shooting birds.
