DAISO OFFER!!! EM1 with 12-40mm PRO!!! FREE BATTERY GRIP!!!

Only saw 3 customers review but didn't answer the question why it is so cheap. Read the question then answer, still cannot understand the question, then don't answer, simple as that ...

Hahaha ... just joking ... cheers :bsmilie:

Why not just post your question in qoo10 seller Q&A section?

Like what you asked before

"Does EM-1 has a built-in flash ?"

Then there are many gentlemen here can answer your simple question.

Anyway just joking...:-)

ye, like jackwolf mentioned, noone can answer why so cheap. if you just compare any other online retail, amazon. bhphotovideo, ebay, the prices are rather consistent to local.
the difference would be "risk".
What if:
- the body comes scratched?
- LED screen cracked etc
which wouldn't warrant any sort of warranty.
So who do you find?

Ok thanks so much wonglp for clearing the doubt ... thanks again

cheers

You are also correct, gentleman like Keith oredi answered this simple question. Likewise many women also didn't answer this question ... :)

good joke ... hahaha .... cheers

The free HLD 7 offer is now off, making it less attractive.
It would be interesting to know what's the street price of the package in Korea
Think quite a few people in Singapore here ordered it and resell in BnS.

Frankly I can only say that price differentiation by markets is maybe the main reason why an EM1 body can go for $1049. One will never know whether these are parallel imports or their sources dubious or not as the Qoo sellers most prob will never clarify this too and it's only Olympus SG's goodwill in honoring the warranty of these sets that's keeping these deals alive.

Even for me, there was a period where I would buy almost all my MFT stuff from HK but as time passed & Oly Sg gave more attractive prices , (eg : my Pana 12-35 for $1200 while SG was selling for $16xx) but there's lesser impetus now.

Like WongLP shared , buying from overseas has it's risks , all the more when u don't get to check the set etc and more often than not , one bad case is enough. If the camera came fine , well done , if the camera came with a cracked LCD , good luck.

And buying them to resell is kinda inefficient I guess. There will be people like me who would take the effort to post the deals on BnS straight to inform the friends here about them (and kill the one trying to profit obscenely).

Anyway , a good deal is a good deal , acknowledge the pros and cos and make a decision. Lastly , spend more time shooting la

Hmmm.. Not 'goodwill' to be exact.. (Sorry To me goodwill sound more like there's a choice).. They are also tied in by their company policy to warrant international set since they have a service center here. So as long as we have a document proof of purchase they have to warrant the set. In fact, they should have also benefited from such warranty claim by charging the cost back to their head offices and hence increased their service revenue.

I bought from that qoo10 sale and I have my set already. I'll try to answer some FAQ below

Why is it cheap? I don't know.

Is it brand new in box? I'm quite sure it is, although there was a shutter count of 194, it is common knowledge that it's because of factory testing.

Any damages or aesthetic flaws? None whatsoever.

Warranty leh? It's indicated with worldwide warranty. Another bro asked OLY sg if they will honour the warranty, the ans is yes.

Did I get a great camera at a great price? For sure! Can't wait to bring it out on my various trips esp my honeymoon next year!

No company is ever tied to any policy bro :) it's all things any company can change without giving any notice. I recently had to spend much time with Sony SG just to get the same level of warranty coverage & treatment for our local users for the light leak issue in comparison to US.

How many camera brands give 'real' international warranty nowadays ? Olympus & Leica are the only 2 I know so far left doing it. [Fujifilm Japan sets aren't covered once out of Japan]

Panasonic SG will tell u they don't cover any out of SG bought items even if u brought them a Panasonic international warranty card with chop from authorized overseas dealer.

It's good-will and I appreciate that.

Thanks, semajm85 for contributing and sharing your actual/real experience in here. Really appreciate it.

Can I know whether you have to pay GST ? I ask because I remember once I was asked to pay GST by DHL before they gave me the box.

Thanks

Bro keith, these are what i read before buying for worldwide warranty... i guess oly service center can't say that this is subjected to goodwill given.. as a consumer we have every right to rebuke at them if they were to tell me that they are serving my oly due to goodwill. This is their obligation i would think. The reason why i am persistent in this debate is because as a consumer, we know our rights and shouldn't be feeling that oly sg is doing us a favour by giving us out of goodwill.

As for sony and the rest, i have zero knowledge on their acceptance of worldwide coverage as i don't have any of which. :)

Man , think we misunderstood each other, my bad , sorry.

My point was , the worldwide warranty is a standard as stated in all their communication and this is understood as such; aka even if I bought a set from the Arctic now - I will also like u expect them to honor the warranty in SG. I'm not saying currently they can choose to or not to service la

I was trying to say in future terms , it's up to them to decide whether one day will they follow in the footsteps of other brands and stop offering world wide warranty and yeah , if they continue to do so , I'm will continue to support and love them for it.

Yes Bro Keith.. think about it we have a mis-com. I think you could be thinking that I am refering to Oly and other brand's "worldwide warranty"... which actually I am refering to Oly only.. There are some brands which includes their "worldwide warranty card" inside their packaging but for certain we might need to bang table if repair is required.

Certainly agree that if Oly SG (or other countries' Oly or Oly as a whole) realise that it is a chore to them to cover the worldwide warranty, or if they think that they do not need worldwide warranty to boost worldwide sales anymore, they might withdraw it. By then we will have lesser option and constraint to local offering.. Ha..

Pardon my ignorance, why is the price so cheap ? It is now $1,049 + $25 shipping ...

Are these 2nd hand sets or defective sets or reburbished sets ?

Bcos I just heard on the radio where they said that the rule of thumb is " .... if the deal is too good to be true, then it is too good to be true ! ...."

But is $95 for the battery is not cheap right ?

Where to buy cheap 3rd party batteries ?

Thanks
I will just bite the bullet and buy if the price is attractive enough and others here have bought it already.

If you still worried then better just buy local for piece of mind. No point saving few hundred bucks but can't sleep at night (kidding!)

Can't sleep ? Nah ... of course can sleep because if you think of it ... it is almost half price off the RRP ... and further more can pay by instalment ... any problem ... instruct the credit card to stop the payment ... :bsmilie:

Will go and click buy now ...

GST? What GST? ;)
Thanks bro for the confirmation ... ;)

But as click to complete the order ... under the battery .. there is an option to buy a battery ... if I select NONE, will I have any battery at all ?

I mean, is the price inclusive of one default battery ?

Thanks again ...

Standard set come with battery. That's for additional if required. I suggest don't buy additional from them as you can get it locally at a lower cost.
