I was really interested in the E-M1 sale so I did some reading up on the customers' feedback. Apparently, they don't allow returns even for defective cameras. Still considering..... save $500 and risk getting a defective set.....

Yah, it's a heng-suay kinda thing. I bit the bullet and was quite thankful that my unit is fine. But to be rational, it's not for the weak-hearted ones..

Hmm would it be covered by the warranty?

Hmm would it be covered by the warranty?

yeah it is. some of the bros here who bought it have replied that it is international warranty and they checked with local olympus to see if they honor it, they do.

Yup im aware of that. So in the case of a defective product, the trouble would be having to go to Olympus as compared to returning the item to the seller I guess.

With the company policy of world wide warranty validity and the availability of oversea purchase, I think oly sg is badly hit in term of sales. Imagine just this em1 alone they had missed > sgd100k of business having almost 60 set sold in qoo to sg alone. Not to mention those em5, em10 deal that was on earlier.

i dun give that as a valid excuse... well no reason why they cannot lower the RRP of oly cameras sold in sgp to match the rest of the world... if u sell just slightly more $$$ than the rest of the world i'm sure many ppl will just buy from sgp...

Generally speaking, body price will drop faster. I think the body alone shld be $1000 for this deal.

Anyone still buy from local shop?

body is $1090 + $25 for shipping... ;)

Not necessarily true since the increase in number of people who will buy in Singapore would likely be a lot smaller than those in larger markets. Unfortunately.

Pardon my ignorance, why is the price so cheap ? It is now $1,049 + $25 shipping ...

Are these 2nd hand sets or defective sets or reburbished sets ?

Bcos I just heard on the radio where they said that the rule of thumb is " .... if the deal is too good to be true, then it is too good to be true ! ...."

But is $95 for the battery is not cheap right ?

Where to buy cheap 3rd party batteries ?

Thanks

Body $1049 u say too cheap , worry.
Battery at RRP u say too expensive wan2 buy cheap non guaranteed third party batteries which u r supposed to be worried about.

Bro ....

Yeah, isn't $1049 too good to be true for EM1 ?

Thus, I was wondering whether, at that price, these are 2nd hand sets or defective sets or refurbished sets ?

Ok, so I thought maybe their strategy is to entice you with by selling a say 2nd hand camera passing off as brand new. So once you think that the camera is cheap, you will be tricked into buying battery at expensive prices .... like I said earlier, pardon my ignorance ... just got thinking why even Olympus or retailers at Funan's cannot sell at these price and also Olympus price and Funan's retailers price is way way way off this price ... so I was trying to think "what's the catch ?" ... certainly I do not intend to offend anyone here ... probably just a naive question, maybe ....

Yes, SIR ... falling in !! :)

I like your answer...
:-)

So, why is the Em1 so cheap ? What is the catch ?

You might like to read the reviews of those who had bought from him in some of his qoo and judge by yourself whether it is worth the risk for that saving.

As for your question of why is it so cheap.. i don't think anyone here is able to give a definite answer on behalf of the seller. (I mean most of us just guess) Maybe you can ask the seller... keke :p

4 customer reviews, not convince? Then ask your question in Q&A, still not convince? then don't buy. Simple as that.

Only saw 3 customers review but didn't answer the question why it is so cheap. Read the question then answer, still cannot understand the question, then don't answer, simple as that ...

Hahaha ... just joking ... cheers :bsmilie:

ye, like jackwolf mentioned, noone can answer why so cheap. if you just compare any other online retail, amazon. bhphotovideo, ebay, the prices are rather consistent to local.
the difference would be "risk".
What if:
- the body comes scratched?
- LED screen cracked etc
which wouldn't warrant any sort of warranty.
So who do you find?
