Two photos taken by the DA 35mm yesterday:

Strange that it is listed as a DA-L lens on pentaxphotogallery.

which lens hood are you guys using for the DA 35mm? i intend to get one from U.S. as it is cheaper.

i bought mine from a shop at level 1 of peninsula, $12 for a petal shaped hood. Pretty good.

I was tempted to get this plastic wonder after reading this thread.
As I am in Shanghai now, I went to the camera mall that was mentioned in the forum to take a look.
The lens is really very light in weight and the price is cheaper from what I have read in the forum. So, I grabbed one myself.
Will play with this new lens.......:):)

I dun think u need a petal hood for this focal length . Round one will do a better job

Hi all,

I don't wanna start a new thread but I'm gonna buy myself a k-r soon. Prob next week. And I'm looking at the bundle this lens + the kr body from slrr at 1049. (according to price guide, will double check the price with them again).

I chose this bundle because from this thread, this seen like a good walkabout lens, which I'm more interested in. Just walking around streets and snapping.

So I wanna ask I wanna get a zoom lens as well. I was looking at some 18-200 lens but there aren't. There's a 18-135 but it's pretty exp 700+.

So do you guys recommend me getting the standard kit lens bundle 18-55 then buying this lens separately or just my original bundle. I could also get the 35mm bundle and get the 18-55 separately ( think this option is cheaper).

So basically my question is the 18-55 lens complementary to this lens? Sorry for the long wall of text.

u can consider the KR+35mm, then invest in a tamron 17-50 f2.8. its a very good lens.

i'm just not a big fan of superzooms like 18-200 so will just keep my views to myself on that.

the 18-55 kit lens is a very gd lens for its price but if you hv a higher budget..can consider a tamron 17-50 f2.8 or even a DA* 16-50 f2.8

altho i dun hv a 35mm f2.4..i do hv a FA 35mm f2 and its on my k-x if i am out shooting street since the POV is approximately to what my eyes see so its easier to compose (at least for me)

Buy the 35mm bundle and buy the 18-55 kit lens seperately, many people selling the DAL copy.

Detritus is right. There is something about prime lenses. Or maybe its just the plastic wonder... Pictures taken with it seem to have that something extra which even the 18-135mm lacks. I don't know how to explain it and its more than just the bokeh that the wider aperture affords. So i think that getting the 18-55mm may just end up disappointing you in terms of IQ (as good as the 18-55mm is in its own right).

I would say get the Tammy 17-50 esp if you are starting off with a K-r+35mm to lessen the risk of disappointment. However, if giving up IQ for better range as a travel lens then seriously consider the 18-135 or perhaps a Sigma 17-70 (which starts at f2.8).

thanks all for the reply. but its quite difficult to get tamron 17-50 and sigma 17-70 in singapore no?

nope, pretty sure there are stocks around, try SLR Revo or Orient Photo. You can also consider 16-45 if you don't mind the f4. very useful lens.

17-70, i'm not sure.

but why would i suggest the tamron 17-50 to u if it couldn't be easily found locally? :bsmilie:

so many pple here have it... even 2nd hand copies come up very regularly.
