Hi xtemujin,

I understand what it does, but just curious that how useful is this feature...it cost some $...may be if you travel a lot.:)

You can connect the Nikon GP-1 to the D90, it's a new port instead of the usual ten pin input.

If you're asking about what is geotagging, Nikonian has a great information on it, Page 7 of the PDF file.

HTH.

I first used geotagging by using the Sony CS-1 for my Australia holiday with my D50.

It's useful as we're not familiar with the location and when we get back home, we can also sort out the photos by the EXIF time stamp and get an idea of the area where the photos were taken.

It's also a good time stamp backup as in some instances, I forgot to correct the date and time in the camera.

I now use a D200 with the Dawntech Di-GPS as I find it a hassle to switch on two things, the Sony CS-1 and the camera. It also automatically geotag the photos and I don't have to worry about time drift if I'm geotagging by software.

Well that's true...sometimes when I am uploading my travel pics in Flickr, I will request viewers to help to ID the place.:p

I do hope that the Nikon GPS GP-1 is in the US$150 price range so that more people are able to buy it.

I wanted to buy the D300 but since the D90 is lighter and smaller than the D300 and D200, it's a perfect travel DSLR IMHO.

GPS geotagging is a great tool for knowing where you've taken the photos.

When will it be available here in Singapore, any news from the vendors ?

How many stops advantage do you guys figure the D700 has over the D90 in terms of 'usable' ISO? I was considering the D700 mainly for its ISO performance but since I'm going for studies abroad soon, I figure D90 might be a better choice with its video and GPS capability.

D700 has the same sensor as the D3 - ie. D700/D3 sensor will blow the D90 sensor out of the water when it comes to high ISO performance. you can check out my previous D3 sensor posting to see the pics.

you are comparing the DX (x1.5) vs FX (35mm) sensor. no fight. dat said, the current crop of D300/D90 DSLRs have better high ISO performance compared to previous DX DSLRs from nikon with the new EXPEED processor. just dun compare wit the D3... ;p

if you are going for studies, might as well get the d90 cos it is lighter. also, the new GPS module is a separately purchased accessory.

D3 has about 2 stop advantage over D300, so go figure. ;p

Yup, I realize the D700 trumps the D90, just not quite sure by how much. The D90 has features more suited for travels in addition to the much lower price whereas the D700.. well it's the D700! :bsmilie:

Anyways, I'll be sure to check out your posts. :)

Thanks. Sigh.. 2 stops is a bit tough to compromise on. Ah decisions.. decisions..

A bit sianz' coz still have to wait until October. Now I very gian' want to get one. :(

Which page? I'll try and look for a copy of it. Any mention of the price? Sigh - cannot get it to take the lantern festival.
