still ok la... got so many freebies.

Mine is $1660 from TK Photo.
D90 body
18-105mm VR
4GB SDHC with reader
Nikon cleaning kit (because i'm regular customer)

i got it at same price too, also same freebies

Hey fellas,

I just bought mine about 3 weeks ago, and though i am very new at this but i love the camera. Been trying it out at Airport, Southern Ridges, SBG and around the home garden, and the results of the pictures tho not artistically taken nor unique in perspective, have turned out beautiful.

Absolutely no regrets buying the camera.

Hi,
got my Nikon D90 from Australia Harvey Norman with the 18-55mm lens kit for AUD$1650 (before 10% tax rebate at the Aust airport). Enjoyed the favourable exchange rates now and the 3yrs extended warranty from Harvey Norman (applies in Singapore as well). Did not opt for the twin lens (additional 55-108mm) package as I thought of getting a better quality second lens and it saved me AUD$200. Any recommendations for another lens or additional flash?

I'm also very surprised that cameras are selling very much cheaper in Australia now compared to Singapore. Had thought it was the opposite all along. My wife's Olympus Mju 1040 costed AUD$260 (before tax rebate), but it is selling at S$398 after discount at Sim Lim Square.

I'm a proud owner of my Nikon D90 as I like the features, especially the LiveView function for video taking and it also aids anyone else taking pictures for me (can point and shoot by viewing from the LCD screen). Brilliant!!!:D

The live view is indeed very useful in 2 situations:
1. ask non-dslr strangers to take pics for you (using face detection)
2. can shoot high, low and awkward angles

Also I noticed that the live view for D300 is not as good as D90.

Hi All,
I bought mine yesterday from Audio House.

Apart from the standard kit (18 - 105 VR)

1x 4 gig card (Toshiba)
1x 8 gig card (Kingston)
Tripod (quite flimsy but functional)
Lens cleaning kit (Emora)
Camera bag (Digicase - tight fit)
Digi-Cabi DB036 (Electronic dry cabinet)
Ownuser DX-FBH function battery holder

Paid $1988

The three items in the centre are pretty much can do without cos I have a tripod already.
The sales person Who attended to me, John Liew (If I remember correctly), was very friendly and helpful.
He even did a check on the camera (dead pixels and all that) willingly.
Forgot to buy a filter though. My bad.

In the few hours that I've played with my new toy,
No complains, except perhaps the AF could've been a little faster?
Still fooling around with it.
And BTW, I'm new here,
And it's my first DSLR (was on SLR, then DPnS).
So hope everybody will kindly forgive my stupid questions in the future.
Hee...

Soon it'll be time to upgrade your dry cab, then ur cam bag after you add in more lenses and flash to ur setup.... BBB :)

finally i've joined the league as a proud owner on sunday! haha. got mine from max photo centrepoint 1690, paid with CC. threw in a Lowepro EX160 for 55, and a no brand UV filter for 25.

actually i was offered a hoya filter for 49, and a hoya multi-coated one for 100+ (dun bother to remember the price) but thought it doesn't make a difference. am i right? could somebody kindly shed some light on this?

You'll very soon regret not to buy the quality filter. Try search around here in this Nikon section, there was this guys with his cheapo filter complain about his poor picture quality taken by his new D90 and after few analysis by most sifu here he then realize it's the true he used cheapo quality of filter. You pay $$$$ for a premium quality.

I'm picking up my D90 this afternoon :D

I'm getting it from Max Photo at AMK.
D90 kit with 18-105mm + 4GB - $1650 inc GST.
Freebies:
Loewe Pro Bag
1.5m Tripod.

I was tossing up between the Nikon D90 and Canon EOS 50D. I hope I won't be disappointed!

Can anyone comment on the AF speed? Is it really that slow compared to other models/brands?

hi. Do anyone know roughly how much is Ownuser DX-FBH function battery holder that came in the bundle in Audio House?

Hi ppl,

Just got my D90 from Lords last Friday. This is my first DSLR, and hope to learn how to use it in the coming future

:)

AF speed i believe depends on many factors, like your AF modes, your shooting mode settings, your lens and of course your body. End of day, if you can detect difference of miliiseconds, then it matters. If your AF takes many attempts or takes a long time, its prob the lens or your settings.

Can more sifus here comment on quality filters? which brands and series of filters qualify as quality. Cost is only 1 determinant since some black shops can sell no brand filters for $50. Is Kenko Pro any good? Any filter ranking system someone care to share?

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Agree with the bag, it's really just a little too small.
The camera's more for work and family outings so
At most is add a flash (which one is good for D&D group photo hah?).
Was told that the old lenses from my F60 are compatible so will
Probably resuscitate them (any good overhaul place to help?)

:D

D&D better to have at least SB 600/800/900. You should not get SB 400 or other brands to use with D90.

Personally i will recommend SB 600 if you no need to shoot too far, because it is a budget value for money flash unit that is small and lightweight.

Only if you are a pro/expert right now, then get SB 900 or at least SB 800. Otherwise, you should still get SB 600 then as you get more skilful, later add on another SB 900 to have a dual flash setup for wireless remote lighting.

got another thread says that we should get a good uv filter to ensure good quality image.

for me i am using:
Kenko Pro 1 Digital UV - $50 for 72mm
Kenko Pro 1 Digital CPL - $100 for 72mm

Many people use B+W or Hoya filters.

I think a search will reveal quite a number of old threads comparing filters. I am mainly using Nikon and Hoya Pro1D.

i bought mine at harvey, was looking for a well known filter like B+W but the salesman offer me tokena. & he was telling me that not much a different between the quality but there is a offer for tokena UV filter.

Hi,
