regarding the battery and long first charge issue, THIS might be an interesting read :)

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's what I have been saying. Only older Ni based batteries need the long first charge.
so those who now know... when you buy a mobile phone and the salesperson says "first charge ___ hours", ask for documented proof! :bsmilie:

Bought D90 kit 2 days back at CP.

dude, u don't have to say tt in 2 threads. chill... I know you're excited about your purchase. we know you're part of the d90 group. Welcome!

M mode basically gives you consistent exposures from shot to shot, but when trying to learn, it might be better to use some of the automated features first (eg. Program Auto or Aperture Priority) to minimize the number of decisions you need to make :)

Well, a silly thing would be using M mode and then adjusting the shutter speed or aperture so that the camera meter reads 0. Could have just used A or S mode and let the camera choose the other.

Well, some people derive some weird enjoyment doing things the non automated way, even though the result is the same.

congrats on your purchase.
Make sure to have the camera (with fully charged battery) beside you, so you can fiddle with whatever settings in the menu as you read. Nothing like hands-on learning! :)

hehehe selling off my D80 kit and buying the D90 body only involved an additional outlay of about $150, which I felt was worthwhile.
I really like the 3" LCD with the info display, and more customisable WB when shooting in JPG.
Not forgetting the cleaner images at high ISOs.
:D

this is totally worthwhile...:)

D90 user falling in :) currently only have 18-200 with me, the kit lens is RIP liao. haha :X

what happened to it? RIP so fast?

Actually not that fast, bout 1 yr le. Just that my camera bag did a somersault and landed lens down, resulting in a cracked UV lens and a KO aperture hook.

Send to nsc for quotation, damage about $260. So I ended up getting a new lens instead :embrass: The kit lens served me well, but just have to say bye bye to it even though its sitting in my dry cabinet. Irony is, still can take photo, but cannot adjust aperture.

Anyone (other than xtemujin) tried Geo-tagging? Just got my Phottix Geo one in the mailbox, can't wait to play with it!
