Actually not that fast, bout 1 yr le. Just that my camera bag did a somersault and landed lens down, resulting in a cracked UV lens and a KO aperture hook.

Send to nsc for quotation, damage about $260. So I ended up getting a new lens instead :embrass: The kit lens served me well, but just have to say bye bye to it even though its sitting in my dry cabinet. Irony is, still can take photo, but cannot adjust aperture.
1 year not fast?
My kit lens 3 yrs old still working like new :)

your poor kit lens :)

cannot adjust aperture, so take all photos at max aperture?

2nd hand at that price is mostly older version without VC.

In ebay, $600+ is usually older version without VC also.

If you think price of VC version is too high in Singapore, you can cross the causeway to buy it for around $800.

If you get from ebay, and there is problem, you are on your own (no warranty). If you need to calibrate the AF, you have to pay the agent here to do it, and it will cost quite a lot as they will courier the lens to Japan to get it adjusted and courier back, ALL at your expense. If buy in Malaysia, you will still get 1 year warranty from the agent in Singapore if you show purchase receipt from an authorized Tamron reseller. If you buy in Singapore, you get 3 years warranty.

So, in the end it is what risks you are willing to take. Nothing to do with who is trustworthy... You have to assume Murphy's law sometimes.

I rather buy in HK myself.

On Tamrons and Sigmas, back/front focusing is a quite a common occurrence which will require AF calibration.

SG sells for mid 900s the last I remember.
